Great location, but nothing flash. A basic hotel, clean rooms, comfortable bed and friendly staff. Close to the hospital and airport. The CBD is only a tram ride away. Bathroom was very tired and needs an update. The breakfast was pretty ordinary and the scrambled eggs looked like they were microwaved! The coffee I paid for was good though. Close... More

The room was small, carpet dirty, there was paint missing off the skirting boards. heater didn't work and the spare blankets were dirty. my 9 year old got stuck in the bathroom each time she used it as you couldn't open from the inside and you could see damage to the door where clearly people have kicked the door trying... Well I guess its all in the title, was greeted by a rude trainee at reception upon checking in. The room itself is ok except that the bed is uncomfortable. Wonderful experience checking out with the same trainee, just as abrupt as when we checked in. Won't stay here again.

We stayed for one night in a standard king bed room.. @ $126p/n.......When we arrived our room had a shower over the bath (which we had requested a shower only) as my husband is 6ft6" and too tall for a shower over bath, they changed our room to a shower only but it was a queen bed instead of a... Headed to Melbourne for a big sporting event, room was cheap and we got what we paid for! The hotel is very tired but the room was good enough for our purposes (we literally slept there). Staff were lacking charm - my children made the comment that everyone seemed sad there 😩 It's outside the CBD so an easier drive... More

We stayed here for 1 night with our 4yr old and baby as it was across the road from the RCH. We checked in quickly and then had to go to hospital for appointments. We saw online that the hotel was rated 4 stars and the pictures looked nice. We booked a queen room with a single bed. When we... More

Booked queen room with single bed. What we got was a double bed and fold out single that the mattress wouldn't have been suitable for a dog, Noisy guests in other room and noise down corridor, walls are like paper thin. Light from hallway comes under doorway so doors doesn't seal properly to even try to keep noise out. The... More

Stayed 2 nights recently 8th and 9th July 2015. We booked despite the poor TripAdvisor reviews. After all how bad can a Mercure property be? The check-in was okay despite a glitch in the booking which was booked by a 3rd party with an arrangement to be billed afterwards. The friendly guy at the desk had obviously not been informed.... The hotel is conveniently located on the northern outskirts of the CBD very close to trams and a walk to North Melbourne shops and Queen Victoria Markets. This is a 1950s/60s style building that has been refurbished a while ago. Hallways to rooms are a bit of a maze, but my room was large, clean and welcoming. I was a... More

Spent one night here, on a brief city trip. We had booked a triple but they upgraded us to a double twin without asking. The room was more than adequate and clean. Friendly reception staff. Car park within the premises for an extra fee. Will gladly stay here again,
