Mine was a two night work related stay. The location is a plus for those needing to be close to the Children's Hospital or near Melbourne University. The city is a short tram ride away or a 30 min walk. Nearby is the North Melbourne village with a good range of cafes, restaurant and bars. The hotel is what one... More

Was close to the hospital that we needed to visit, but was shabby in places and expensive at about $220 per night. Extra for parking and Wi Fi seems unnecessary. Bed was comfortable, but needs coffee table and chairs. Radio was useless. Just a packet of biscuits would have been appreciated.

Dear Malcolm B, Thank you for your feedback. We are currently in the process of planning our refurbishment and expect works to commence in winter. Apologies with regards to the radio. I booked this hotel before I read the reviews and was quite worried when I saw the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised to find the room large, comfy and clean. The room was serviced daily and I could find no fault. The staff were all very friendly, the location is great with a tram stop outside and easy access to... More

I had read the reviews before I stayed at the mercure so was very nervous about what I would find when I arrived. I asked for a new refurbished room but there were none available but I was pleasantly surprised by my room, especially how clean and comfortable it was. It had everything I needed for my short stay and... More

Stayed for one night, good to have opening windows, worried noise from road would keep us awake but just closed window and put air con on and it was fine. Not many negatives, room was comfy beds comfy, they have a small restaurant bar area, staff were friendly. The lifts were very noisy and rattled, could hear people talking in... More

I paid for a "deluxe room", as I had stayed at this hotel before so knew that it was a bit tired. Don't know why I bothered paying the extra. It was quite ordinary. The bathroom was not clean, the bed was comfortable, but the airconditioning was so noisy (and it was a really hot night) that sleep was irrelevant... More

On arrival "duty manager" at reception was extremely rude! After a huge stuff around and an extra charge we was finally roomed, only to enter a room with dirty carpets. The bathroom was also very huge disappointment, with mould in every corner of the floor, cracks in tiles that had been painted over to "cover". Vents in bathroom thick of... More
