Lovely staff and an interesting hotel - threadbare carpets and 80's decor on level 7. Don't know about the other floors. Booked on the basis of the promised 'quiet corner room on a high level' but got room 710 with loud street noise and a shared wall with the elevator, which went all night. But the room was large and... More

Appreciate the detailed comments on your recent stay at the hotel on level 7, the suite side rooms are scheduled for an upgrade in the coming months with a prototype room being worked on in mid-April which we are all very excited about. It was disappointing that you did not have the rest and found the room noisy and not... More

Stayed here on business by for 2 nights. The hotel is situated at the top end of ChinaTown and amongst the theatres. It has a pool on the roof which is small and heated. There is a treadmill and rowing machine next to the pool to use free of charge. The room was nicely furnished and clean. Very modern everything... More

Was great to see the hotel met your expectations on most levels, being in the heart of the CBD of Melb has its advantages for business travellers, not only a wider choice of cuisine available in the same block but also the ability to jump on a tram or take a short walk to the office...hope we see you back... The hotel is conveniently located at the east side of CBD. The rooms seem to have been renovated for more business oriented. There are flat screen tv, and usb power ports build in the wall. However, the internet connection was way to expensive ($29.00/24hours) considering international standard. This would perhaps discourage me to come back again, particularly on business. The... More

It was appreciated to get a constructive viewpoint of the accommodation and services from a senior contributor. The internet costs are certainly being reviewed and with new systems being looked at for installation that the hotel has more control over, will be in a better position to review charges to guests so they are not as expensive as currently experienced.... Well located 4star establishment at top of Bourke Street, efficient and welcoming staff. Room facilites and bathroom clean. I would have rated this hotel 5star except that the single beds were quite narrow - and old-fashioned width. Lobby and bar areas well-presented.

It was really appreciated to receive a positive comment from a senior reviewer, the single beds are a king size Rydges Dream bed - ie the bases are used for our king size beds. Generally we find these are large enough for our twin requirements, although for tall guests, we do recommend taking a queen size bed if they need... More

I stayed here for one night this past week. The cost of the room was $315, which was much more than I would usually pay (I am happy to splurge on a good overseas hotels, but I find service standards and amenities in Australia rarely justify paying more than $250 per night even in a central city location). The cost... More

It was great to get a review from a top contributor, certainly shows that there is some expert travellers in the market and how pleasing it is you selected our property to stay at over the busy GP weekend. The location is fantastic and most of our guests appreciate the benefits of this when visiting Melbourne. I understand rates do... More

This stay was for 5 nights and has now allowed us to reach a night for free which has only taken us 18 months to aquire. The Rydges Priority Guest is the main attraction of Rydges resorts, the late checkout of 1.00pm is awesome, priority over rooms and floors, early check in when possible and discounted rates. Unfortunately the actual... More

It was great to see you are taking advantage of the Rydges Priority Guest program and the amazing benefits it offers. I certainly take on board your commentary on the impression of the hotel, the chairs you mentioned in the lobby, these were part of the multi-million ground floor refurbishment that completed in 2009, so only a few years old.... Had a one night stay here on Saturday night. After reading reviews I was hesitant, but had nothing to fear. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the noise was minimal. Would return for sure.

Bed was good, but the room is a bit dated. Bathroom very small, with next to no bench space for a toiletries bag. Location is excellent for the theatre district. Reasonably high cost for an adequate room.

Appreciate your comments on your recent stay and apologise you found the room a little tired. I chose this hotel because it was close to theatres,Chinatown, restaurants, shopping and transport.Had we wanted to see an exhibition, that was about 5 minutes walk up the road. The dream bed was really comfortable and we had the Queen spa suite which was roomy and had a walk in robe accessing the bathroom. I read your review of the stay with great interest and appreciated your detailed comments, which summed up the property very appropriately.
