We stayed at Rydges Melbourne Hotel in February 2012 due to interstate friends visiting Melbourne for the weekend and to attend a performance at Her Majesty's Theatre (just across the road). So we were in the perfect position really to enjoy the culinary delights of Melbourne too. Chinatown, the "fine dining" of Bourke Street and just a few blocks to... More

The title says it all. Came into the lobby for check in and there was trash strewn on the floor. People were sleeping in the lobby and a little trolope was sitting there legs spread showing basically everything. Went up to the room and the bathroom was so small only one person at a time. We went to the laundry... More

I stayed at Rydges in Melbourne (Exhibition St) for two nights mid January 2012. Other reviewers have commented on the slow lifts and the slightly tired room decor - they're right. For me, the highlight of my stay was: (1) The dawn view over the Victorian Parliament building from my room. It was stellar!! I've attached a photo or two....... More

I have read many negative responses for this hotel and felt that I needed to add to the info. This is a budget hotel in a GREAT position. Most other places in this area are more than double the price. YES the rooms are tired. YES it needs an overhaul. YES the lifts can be slow. However..... for the price... More

We stayed at this hotel during the Australian Open. We had booked the 'best' room available, the premier spa suite. Sounded good from their website, but the reality was an old, tired room with worn, dented furniture. The bathroom tiles were cracked, our bathtowels had holes in them and the spa fittings were yellowed with age. The lift was unreliable... More

It was disappointing to read of your impression from your recent stay - I was both surprised and annoyed that you had a towel with a hole in it as I personally just selected and ordered big fluffy towels for these rooms to ensure that guests staying in these suites had a good impression. The suites will be upgraded in... More

Stayed for 3 nights during the Australian open and got a 25% off deal. This made it good value. The room was a reasonable size but the bathroom was small. Rydges used to have treadmills in their gym but they have been removed. There is only a cross trainer and a rowing machine now. They did say that guests have... More

Thank you for your comments on the facilities at the hotel. The limited fitness equipment located on the roof with the pool was more for a convenience factor for our guests when it was put in place 2 years ago. Unfortunately due to the nature of design with the treadmill it didn't like the open area and was constantly breakding... More

Our stay in Melbourne was absolutely amazing thanks to Rydges Melbourne. The location was really great, as you are away from all the noise, but only steps away from CBD and all it's attractions. The service was by far the best we've experience. Our stay was welcomed by the staff. We had a special arrangement to check in early (10am)... More

I stayed a couple of times overnight with some friends. We had a twin share room - and having signed up to the Rydges priority members (see their website) for free we were able to get a very reasonable price - cheaper than anywhere else. After booking they sent an email offering us an upgrade for only $20, which would... More

Stayed in Melbourne for 3 nights. The deluxe twin room was clean and comfortable and the beds were excellent. The hotel is perfectly situated in the city centre and in easy walking distance to Chinatown and the Mall. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rydges Melbourne suited our needs perfectly and I would stay there again. More

Rydges is in a great location, close to the mall, theatre, Chinatown, and just a short walk to the MCG and Tennis Centre, for which the purpose of our stay. On entering the building first impressions were very good, our room was not quite ready so we decided to have a drink at the bar, this was also appealing. Unfortunately... More

Thank you for your perspective of the hotel from your recent stay. Firstly have alwasy taken responsibility for the shortcomings of the hotel service and in particular if we havent attended to the cleaning with the right detail. The upgrade to our suites that has been mentioned in previous responses were in line with comments on decor and fittings only... More
