The photos on their website show their main building, not the one next door. My friend and I were put in room number 35, which is in the soon to be refurbished building next door. The semi-basement lobby smelled of stale moldy air, the tired elevator scared us every time we took it, the room was fitted with sun faded... More

The location is great and the size of the apartment is suitable if travelling with a group. None of us got much sleep as the street noise is very loud. At one stage I thought there were drunk people in the room with me. I have stayed at many inner city hotels in Melbourne and live in the city CBD... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in early feb. Staff were all very friendly and always willing to help when needed, they even kept smiling when they were mopping up water from the leaking ceiling! The building itself is nothing special; the lift feels like its going to pack it in any day now and the ceiling was leaking quite badly... More

My family and I traveled from Singapore to Melbourne to watch the Australian Open tennis over the weekend of January 28th to 31st 2011 . We have four children so needed an apartment rather than a hotel. We chose Quest as we had stayed in their managed apartments before and liked the look of Fairfax house and the location in... More

Appalling! Never again! Like many business travelers I often prefer self-contained apartments for reasons which include privacy and security. I arrived at Quest Fairfax mid-afternoon and settled in to a room "air conditioned" by an enormous noisy evaporative A/C taking up a significant part of the corner floor-space in the lounge and with a huge flexible hose stuck out the... Location was relatively central to most places we wanted to go but the noise level within the apartment especially at night was unacceptable. Outside arguments on 3 nights and inside on all nights and then people moving and furniture shifting noise from apartments next door and above reverberated throughout until early hours of the morning. Although clean and spacious the... More

I got a reasonable deal to be right in the heart of the CBD...$110 from the Quest website. A little hard to find and awkward to get into with bags, but once through the door, reception was efficient and pleasant. I was pleased I only had to ride the lift one floor though. The Fairfax is quite old and a... More

I was a little nervous staying at the Quest Fairfax House after reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor, but we had a very pleasant stay after all. We were in a three bedroom apartment facing Little Collins Street close to street level and heard no street noise whatsoever during our stay. We did, however, stay mid-week so perhaps... More

Stuck in the lift for 45 minutes, genuine risk to safety of passengers. Berated (SHOUTED AT!) by staff on eventual exit for inconveniencing them, some overseas guests bawling their eyes after the ordeal out seemed to go unnoticed. Was informed the lift motor had caught fire the week before. Sub-standard, dismissive response from management upon following up.

I have had multiple trips to Melbourne and decided to stay at Quest Fairfax for a bit of variety. We were on the 3rd floor and our first night was awful - drunks in the street til 6am, four firetrucks on the next block of Little Collins St at 4am. We went out to buy earplugs the next day! Size...
