We broke our journey from UK to Tasmania and stayed here two nights 14th December. Reception staff very helpful. We had a room on 5th floor with a (small) balcony overlooking treasury gardens. A lovely view. Breakfast was very good. Bathroom was bijou but adequate and very clean. Coffee machine nice touch. Its just inside the free tram zone so... More

Nice location on the edge of the CBD and opposite the treasury gardens. 20 minute walk to the MCG through Fitzroy Gardens. Good fit out in the room, basic amenities included - but enough to get you clean and dry! I had room 1103 - avoid any room that ends in 03 as (literally) the lift shaft is part of... More

S37°48'53.06'' E144°58'27.99'' overlooking the Fitzroy Gardens, one of Melbourne's oldest public gardens, this hotel building is dwarfed by recent developments. If the demolition-building cycle in Melbourne continues, this hotel will soon kick the bucket. Finding a reasonable hotel in Melbourne was not easy. Although Tripadvisor showed clear winners, further research of reviews of these hotels revealed major drawbacks, particular of... More

My partner and I always stay at Mercure Treasury Gardens in Melbourne and have always enjoyed our stays. The hotel staff are welcoming and friendly from arrival to departure and nothing is too difficult for them. The hotel is in a great location - right near tram stops to all major destinations and only a short walk to Carlton, Richmond,... More

Pleasant enough hotel. We stayed only one night this trip and were given a really rubbish room. The walls of the lift shaft are actually in the room! Every time the lift moves you hear it. I slept not at all. I did complain and got a small refund but just ask the question when you check in.

This hotel was spacious , new , comfortable , quiet and a great location . Very convenient for all the restaurants in Flinders Lane . I booked directly and got a room with 2 queen size beds for under $200 . There is a team stop in Collins st around the corner and you can walk to the MCG or... More

Had a one night stay over the New Year holidays. This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and once again found the service and room to be to a high standard. Nice bedding, spacious room, great out look to the park, and very friendly staff. It was a nice touch to receive a welcome gift in... More

I stayed at the Mecure for one night as a treat to myself before some appointments the following day. The hotel is located across from Treasury park, in close proximity to the sporting/entertainment venues, and the city centre. Upon arrival the member at staff (whose name I did not catch) was beyond accomodating and friendly. I received a complimentary upgrade... More

We were only staying one night and were initially located in room next to the lift, which was a bit noisy. We asked to be moved and staff were extremely helpful. I even received a call to see if we were happy with the new room. Clean modern rooms, comfy beds and REAL water pressure in the shower. Close to... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
