My fiance & I saw in the New Year (2007) at Rialto Hotel on Collins, as it is now known.. we stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely time... it certainly has special memories for us... so much so, that we have decided to get married there on the 11th October 2007 - 2 days before it shuts down... more

My husband and I stayed here for his birthday and had a package of a night accomodation, champagne and strawberries on arrival, and buffet breakfast. When we checked in it took a reminder phonecall and over an hour for our champagne and strawberries to arrive. The room was clean but a little dated, the bathroom marble was wearing away and... more

Stayed here with my Partner in July 07, place looks magnificent. Walk in and the historic feel is great. Service was fantastic everybody was helpful and friendly. The only problem i had was we booked a room with an atrium view i think it was called, and when we arrived the lady at the counter said she only had a... more

I recently stayed at the Rialto after contacting the hotel directly and booking one of their various packaged deals (better value than internet booking services) and opting for the Premier Spa Suite for $100 AUD more than a basic room. Initially I was very impressed at the sheer size of the suite - it was massive. It had to be... more

Stayed for four nights on business. A little further from the city centre than expected, but the walk was never really arduous. Well attended taxi rank right at the front door and trams passing by too. Spacious room with comfortable beds and other furniture. Generally excellent staff who went out of their way to be helpful on all sorts of... more

Stayed here on Business towards end of January. Service and food were good. Location is in the city near Spencer street station (now renamed to something else), and about a 10 minute walk to the Bourke street mall. Overall the hotel met my requirements for a business hotel, and price was reasonable. Downside was there was no in room internet... more

I stayed last week at the Rialto while on business in Melbourne. It was great all the way around. I was a bit wary of the previous reviewers who were critical of the fact that rooms have windows into the atrium, rather than to the street ... but how else do you have windows in a city hotel sandwiched between... more

My wife & I drove from Sydney to Melbourne on our first visit to Oz. Before we could get out the car, the concierge was there, told us to take what we needed to book in, and he took care of the rest. Bags in room in no time at all, & vehicle garaged safe & sound. Staff in all... more

Booked a mystery room and it ended up being the Rialto. Nice enough I guess. The doorman didn't offer to help us with our bags, so we lugged them in ourselves. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was tiny and the bathroom needed updating, looking a little old and tired. To be honest, I expected a little more... more

Mixed feelings about this place. The atrium is very impressive. The hotel restaurant has a great reputation with locals. It's nice to visit but if you're staying in the hotel with a room facing inwards then the place can feel very dingy. The only natural light comes from the roof. Don't get wrong though, the place wasn't that bad. We... more
