My room was on the 17th floor. Small, basic furnishings and not clean enough - eg rather grubby 'throw' on bed which I removed. Very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom which could not be turned off. Quite loud street noise. The worst thing was the connecting door to next door room. There was considerable noise leakage, in fact it... More

Nothing overly flash. Checkin and out was quick and easy. Rooms are basic but nice and clean. TV remote was a bit tricky, bed was very comfortable. I would stay there again for the price I paid in Central Melbourne.

A very modest price hotel that was well appointed to most things including theatres, free tram, China town and nice walk into the CBD. Hotel had papers everyday and a buffet breakfast. Unfortunately we didn't partake of the breakfast as it didn't suit our times; it was a reasonable $21. For drop off and pick up, we could use the... More

Arrived 2 hours early for check in, receptionist found a room for us. All the staff were very good and friendly. TV not working , fixed promptly. Ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent, even though there are loads of eating places to choose from in the area. Check in, check out no fuss and car parking... More

Stayed for five nights for business. The Studio room was very small. The water saving shower head looked mouldy and shot in all directions. There was no space in the bathroom to even rest a toiletries bag and no plug to shave in the sink. There was only one powerpoint in the room and when I started ironing it immediately... More

I saw in one of the hotels daily newsletters last week that the hotel won best mid priced hotel in Melbourne last year, and I'mnot surprised. Stayed for the first time last year and loved it then, and just finished another weeks stay, and it was just as good as last year, and such excellent value for money. I have... More

The Grand Chancellor, Lonsdale Street, Melbourne is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are spacious, clean, modern. There is an excellent full breakfast available every morning and plenty of newspapers to read. There is a taxi rank right at the front door and plenty of parking underneath the hotel, if required. A short walk out through the carpark to... More

Staying three nights at the hotel on business, I as nervous having read recent reviews. Overall the stay was fine with the in-house restaurant being a notch above what I was expecting. Yes, the room is small and the power points far and few between. However the room was clean, the bed comfy, no smell of nasty smoke, and the... More

The staff at the Grand chanceller Melbourne were very helpful. The superior king room was huge and had a great view, a comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. We also had a newspaper delivered each day and very nice robes that were in the room. Very pleasant
