Having read some previous reviews, I admit that my bar for Grand Chancellor was pretty low, but I was willing to give it a shot. Where do I begin? Lights: When you first enter your room and turn on the main light switch, you'll find that the lights don't, well, light the room up. It takes a good 5-10 minutes... More

I was looking for a clean inexpensive room and that is what I got. The In house phone doesn't work so phone from mobile to speak with reception. Breakfast service doesn't start until 6.30 and parking attendant at 7am. While the staff were pleasant, they lack forethought leaving customers inconvenienced and frustrated. I would rate it at 3 stars

All I could have asked for. I swam in the outdoor pool in winter. Loved it. The room was clean. All the staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast was good. The location was perfect for me. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here to go to the theatre and it was great. Easy to find, just around the corner from the theatre and walking distance to the CBD it was everything you could want. Friendly professional staff and nothing seemed to be a problem The room was clean and had a nice little balcony and the bed was super comfy.... More

Clean, functional room. Fresh, hot breakfast with good selection and excellent service. Friendly, functional check in people at front desk. Very close to theatres. We noticed that room service meals were a very reasonable price. We parked underneath for $20 for 24 hours which was convenient for us.

I have stayed at Grand Chancellor a number of times for work. Most recent stay was quite nice. The rooms have been updated. Meals are better than last time and breakfast was very nice with a god selection. Only issue is that wifi is very expensive as are the movies.

We stayed here because we had a event to attend to at Rod Laver, it's really close and convenient - within waking distance. Also right next to heart of china town! Reception staff were really friendly. Buffet breakfast was amazing! Room was small but really clean, rooms and bathroom was a bit outdated though. I think we were right next... More

Executive room was really nice with a big bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made check in and out quick. Breakfast is excellent with lots of choice and coffee made with freshly ground beans! Location of the hotel is close to many restaurants with lots of choice in style of food.

Location & Service were the two best features of the hotel.. we stayed here to see a show at Her Maj's theatre which is right around the corner. The room was a bit dated, but it was good value and I would recommend it if you are after a cheap and basic hotel right in the heart of Melbourne.
