Arriving late evening from the UK I booked one night at the Penione Hotel before travelling to friends in suburban Melbourne. When booking by phone I explained I was claustraphobic and did not like lifts and was therefore delighted to be offered a ground floor room. Having viewed a single room on the web site in what was described as... more

We got an original double and the room was, not unexpectedly, very small with barely any room for layout out our luggage and hanging our clothes. The bathroom is, again, very small and could have done with some hooks or shelves in the shower stall. Furnishing was a bit old and the room came with an old TV hanging off... more

I stayed here for a night on the tail end of a business trip, as the hotel my work had put me up in was a bit beyond my budget. The location suited me perfectly (I didn't have to drag my luggage too far, and right next to public transport, including the free tram), and I'd found a good price... more

The hotel has a gorgeous ground floor bar and lobby area, but it's next door to the Backpackers so can get some dodgy types hanging about. My renovated room was very clean but extremely small, there was a double bed, flat screen TV on the wall, slim cupboard with mini fridge and kettle - so you can't really hang out... more

Stayed from 10/6 to the 14/6 to attend football found the staff very friendly and helpful, hotel located close to public transport (both Tram & Train). Walking distance to Etihad Stadium, the Crown and many other atractions. The room though small was comfortable and warm only downside was the Bathroom / onsuite was compact but served its purpose. more

Well placed hotel near all necessary forms of public transport, easily accessible from the airport via skybus and a 5 minute stroll from the spencer street terminal. Near metropolitan trains and trams. Service within the hotel was friendly and welcoming, the staff were outstanding compared to those in the 5 star hotels that I usually choose. The room met my... more

Constant 'whirring' of washing machine spin cycle or airconditioner compressor throughout day and night that must have been on the other side of one of the walls. Remote for TV had gone missing. "Hot' water was a dribble and luke warm and experienced by other rooms as well. Staff unable to improve any of above complaints when I voiced them... more

We had a great time at the Pensione. Wonderful service, and excellent value. The rooms are groovy with lovely furnishings and a big flat screen, perfect for our little weekend in Melbourne. more

My partner and myself decided to stay in the city, as we going to watch the Circue du Soleir with some friends. So we decided to not driving back home and spoiled ourselves a bit stay in the hotel for a night. I saw the review on here and it seems pretty pleasant and is only short stroll to Dockland... more

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your recent stay at the Pensione Hotel – Melbourne. It is an unfortunate event when the fire alarm sounds – especially at 4.30am – however this was a technical problem that we regrettably could not solve at the time. Although, I do expect that the staff acknowledge these unfortunate...

The Pensione Boutique hotel was in a very good location. It was a slow 5min walk to South Bank across the bridge and very close to the huge casino. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they managed to check us into the room even though it was early. The rooms are VERY small, you could not swing anything... more
