It was a great stay for my partner and I. Enjoyed how we could just walk out and see china town, walk 5 mins to melbourne central shopping centre, close to flinders street. great location. Just wished their were more toiletries provided and wished it wasn't payed t.v But other than that, we enjoyed our stay at the mercure hotel.

I have stayed in the Mercure Welcome a number of times and have always been impressed with the value for money. The hotel is well situated, the rooms are clean and secure. The Loudon provides a good buffet breakfast. The service is friendly and professional.

We had stayed at the Mecure in Launceston which we found very very good so were rather disappointed in the Welome Melbourne. The price was twice as much and we did not get twice the quality. The corridors were untidy with paper lying around and we had to negotiate our cases past the vacuum cleaner and other cleaning gear. The bath... More

I booked 3 rooms for a party of 7 people for a few nights stay in August 2011. I chose this hotel primarily due to the reasonable price and fantastic location next to Chinatown and swanston st. While staff were very polite and attentive, the rooms were extremely small and very old. Bit grotty in my opinion - felt the... More

Would definitely reccommend. The room was quite small but it was more than comfortable with a tv and a fridge. The bathroom was small and the shower wasn't very good and it could have done with a better clean but it was fine for a short stay. The hotel staff were lovely and friendly, the hotel also had little discount... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
