My wife and I were in Melbourne recently and stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is very close to Lygon Street and Carlton Gardens. Our room was fine, clean and the bathroom was particularly good. A really good shower. We had a breakfast package. Food quite good. Get there early if you can. Staff are very friendly and... More

This hotel was in a great location and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was generally comfortable, however the bathroom floor was quite sticky and had obviously not been cleaned properly for a while. There were also no biscuits provided with the tea/coffee.

The hotel was clean and a room space was adequate. The thing that makes this hotel stand out is a great location with easy access to Lygon street and the CBD. The price was very reasonable for this area.

We chose to stay here due to location, as we were attending the comedy festival at Trades Hall. Upon arrival the room was very clean, small, but very clean. Staff were friendly, we only saw one. It's disappointing that the bar is only open Sunday nights - yes Lygon Street is a stone throw away but sometimes a drink in... More

My Daughter and I stayed here Sundy night following our outing to Dirty Dancing. It is well situated, clean, nicely updated rooms, friendly staff and a 2 minute walk to fantastic Lygon Street. Will stay again. Great Avignon on site secure parking.

We stayed there for two nights. The hotel was built in the eighties and most of the parts remain the same with minimal updates. Although we stayed in an Executive Room, it was small for Australian standard. Besides two dining chairs and a small table, there was no lounge seats available. Message shower heads are claimed to be standard in... More

I stayed here for 4 nights with a tour group. Most of our group had rooms round the courtyard pool, which were rather dark and noisy, but I was lucky and had a room with a roof top view at the end of the corridor (302), which was large and light. There were issues with the staff: at breakfast on... More

Upon checking in the girl behind the counter glanced over looked me in the eye and continued to chat to the person in the office, 2 minutes later when I was still standing there she asked me if she could help me. that wasn't the best start The rooms are standard and if your a tall person like me you... Stayed here for 3 nights. Location is good - right near Lygon St with plenty of eating options/people watching and about a 10 to 15 minute walk and you're in the city centre. Room was very comfortable and we had plenty of space. Breakfast was good - not a massive number of choices but enough to set you up for... More
