I stayed NYE without time to checkin before midnight and received a call from reception to ensure I was still on my way. The very helpful chap also helped direct me to the hotel from the city (mostly on foot) and then the last leg in the dark from the tram. Beyond the call of duty. Efficient checkin- including a... Have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the past few years.... it is very well located in the heart of Carlton - just a block off Lygon Street and the Italian eateries! Walking distance to a lovely movie house - the Nova, which has screens some good art-house cinema. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms,... More

My eighteen-year-old daughter and I stayed here for three nights while she visited Melbourne University. We chose it because of its excellent location, one block from Lygon Street, with all its shops and restaurants, also very close to the University. We were however, to find that there was so much more to the hotel than its convenient location. Despite being... More

I found the room to be a good home from home for a week. The bed was comfortable and there was a good sized flat screen TV. My room was a good size, with a lounge area witha sofa and coffee table, which helped me to relax. The bath room was fine. The location is a little out of the... More

Email, send post-card, but don't use website for best rates. Call If you can connect! Hotel location and room are good. Shower can be a bit hot. Check-in service is appalling. Clerks are too busy on personal matters, and the manager is shameless. Hotel can not answer their own phones even after multiple tries. Booking through their own website is... More

The best thing about the Travel Inn, like many hotels, is its location. It's one block from Lygon St, which has all the shops and restaurants you would ever want, including a grocery store and a chemist, and is conveniently located to museums, gardens, and the Circle Line Tram. My room had a floor-to-ceiling window with what might have been... More

Very good location close to Lygon Street and plenty of cafes for breakfast so no need to pay hotel breakfast prices. One of the most comfortable hotel beds we've experienced. Friendly helpful reception staff. Negatives - internet charge and cheapskate provisions in the room; only one soap for basin and shower, only one type of Tbag and one drinking glass.... More

Very well appointed rooms. Compact but functional. Very clean and it looks like the bathrooms have been recently refurbished. Only thing missing is free internet and mini bar in the rooms. just an empty fridge instead. You have to go to reception if you want a water or a beer which is a pain. More

The problem with this hotel is that it really is actually potentially very good. The staff are very helpful and obliging – in my view, at least 60% of what makes a hotel stay good or bad. But the problem with this hotel is its noise-amplifying building design. There must be an architecture thesis somewhere in hotel designs of the... More
