I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at City Tempo. I highly recommend it for anyone staying in Melbourne on business or pleasure. The location is excellent with all attractions within walking distance. Plenty of cafes and resaurants in the area and close to Victoria Markets. As far as the accommodation the facilities were excellent. The rooms were fitted with all amenities... More

City Tempo is a pleasant surprise. For the price you pay, you expect quite a budget room but it's a great little apartment with a super comfy bed, great kitchenette and small but adequate bathroom with a great shower. The room was clean and tidy and all in all it was a great experience! The staff were also very busy... More

This is a nice hotel (stylish aparthotel), well located, clean and with a helpful staff. My room was small (traveling by myself) and it was ok: comfortable bed, clean bathroom, coffee and tea maker and microwave in the room. There is a nice Cafe next door with fresh croissants every morning. Just walking distances to the main attractions of Melbourne.... More

My partner and I stayed here whilst attending the Australian Open 2016. Honestly, no complaints. Room was clean and modern. Serviced daily - not 5 star hotel level, but bed was made, sheets changed every 2 days or so, new towels daily etc. We got the 1 bed apartment, so I imagine the studio would've been quite tight. 1bed apartment... I don't usually write reviews but my experience at city tempo had left such a bad taste in my mouth, I had to say something. Firstly, the pros : good location, good apartment size, clean room. Then, the cons: really small bed ( can barely accommodate 2 people comfortably), noisy air cond, room access keycard that didn't work 90% of... More

This hotel has the possibility of being a really nice place, but our experience was grim. The lobby smells. The elevator is dirty. The cleaning service is virtually non-existent. We came back from tennis to find a pile of wet, used towels moved from the bathroom floor to the middle of our bed. I called reception and was told that... More

Pros: the location is good if you don't mind a quick walk to the CBD, close to La Trobe Street tram stop to get on the free City Circle trams, great view if you are staying on the higher levels and close to the Queen Victoria Markets. The bed was comfy too. Cons: the apartment was a bit small, if... More

It was easy to get to because the sky bus drops you right out the front door. It is within walking distance to Queen Victoria Markets. It is a short walkto the city circle tram stop which makes it easy to get around Melbourne. I would definitely stay here again when in Melbourne.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
