I stayed at Hotel Sofia last week on a standard double room, paying $89 for it - and that includes a hot breakfast. It was definitely good value. And the location is also excellent. I'm making it my preferred place to stay now if and when I do have to stay in the Melbourne CBD in the future. Yes, it's... More

Hotel Sofia offered poor hospitality, in a rather tired and run down premises. Noisy plumbing throughout the night was drowned out after 6.30am by noise from a large construction site immediately behind the building! Breakfast was indifferent, and although supposedly served until 9.30am the heaters were being turned off by 9.15am on one morning!

I am currently staying in the hotel with my wife and 6 year old. We left early this morning, came back in the afternoon and the room was not made up. We are 100% certain we put the "make up room sign" on. When we explained the situation, the front desk said they would make the room up. When we... More

Although a budget hotel, Hotel Sofia ticked all the boxes required by myself and partner for our 4 night stay. A comfy bed, warm room, TV, really nice tea and coffee, and to top it all off, included was a cooked or continental breakfast downstairs. Bonus too was a fantastic shower, hot and lots of water. On the negative side... More

When I book a hotel for the night, I book it for two reasons, a bed for the night and a nice hot shower to wash away the dirty feeling that accompanies travelling and/or partying. While this hotel had a bed, which was nice and comfortable I was extremely frustrated not to be able to take a hot shower 'the... More

Rude and untrained staff, cheap services, ripping money, I warn not to go to this hotel. The motels are better then this. Reception staff is terrible. Do not waste your money. Particularly bad phone manners, no good receptionist.

Stayed for 1 week. Woke up to demolition noises every week day morning at 7am Sharp! Bobcats and Diggers tearing down an old building on the back of the hotel, so ask for a room at the front. The rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The breakfast selection was limited, and never changed. The lady serving breakfast was also... More

Arrived for an overnight stay. We were mysteriously upgraded to a superior room as soon as we arrived. Upon entering the room was very unpleasant and very poor quality - the phone did not work so I rang from my mobile and were told if we needed anything we would have to go downstairs! The lamps were ripped and shabby.... More

Upon arriving, the place was dirty, smelly and the staff were very rude. we were told it was 4.5 star, more like 1 star. Back packers would of been more cleaner. we felt un safe. After telling management it was not what was advertised and we require a refund, they refused. we contacted wot if, who were and are extremely... More

Stayed for 6 days during the British Lions tour. Hotel was clean and quiet, had breakfast which was a bonus. Ajoins a pub thats does really nice meals that are reasonably priced. Location is close to the main railway staion and tram stop that includes the free city tram. The only downside was you had to give a $150 "bond"... More
