This hostel is right on Flinders Street and thus very close to the CBD. It looks rustic and has no nearby parking, but for backpackers - travelling by public transport - it is quite good. The kitchens are spotless and there is a bit of a crowded dining table in tne kitchen. No matter, but the hostel is quite central,... More

The first reason that I choose this hostel is the location, it just around 15 mins walk from Southern Cross Station and also to the city. I've stayed a male room with 4 people, the room was small but enough for me. Everyone has a locker under the bed, it is very important to me cause I want my things... More

compared to the prices at other hostels this one is nothing special. WiFi is not provided at all ($4 a night Asian hostels can even do that). I had to use a computer for internet which was in the middle of a stuffy overcrowded kitchen that was constantly full of people either trying to watch tv or cooking elbow to... More

My advice stay at Metro YHA, it's not that much further out of the city and it's much nicer. It's more modern, it has a bar, pool tables, and cafe downstairs. Central YHA has NONE of these things. The central YHA only good if all you really want is a bed on the main street of Melbourne, it's on Finders,... More

Thank you for your review, and great to get your advice for people trying to choose between our two fab Melbourne hostels. They are both a little different in personality and we find most frequent guests have a favourite! Just to let you know, Melbourne Central is about to get a transformation! The ground floor is becoming a new reception/lounge/café/hangout... More

Stayed at Melbourne Central for 3-nights with the 3-day wired deal. Great price and clean place! Staff were all really nice and friendly, I was in an all-girls room and they were all really nice and great people. Glad I chose Melbourne Central YHA to stay, I recommend it for sure! The only thing is that there was construction outside... More

a great place to stay. you can meet a lot of people on the rooftop, the rooms are clean, the bathrooms new, the kitchens maybe a bit small but that's alright and very friendly staff. i did the party-tour on thursday, what was fun even when the bars were not the best. i think the location is very good, i... I came down to Melbourne for a girls shopping trip away. Had a fantastic stay at the yha. Reasonably priced, right in the city centre, really friendly staff and lovely clean bathrooms! Definitely recommend to stay here!

Decent hostel but very expensive. $45 a night at weekend. Bunk beds are quite wobbly and not very secure. Very good kitchen facilities and laundry. Nice roof terrace and you can byo beer which is nice. Very helpful staff too. Salingy I think was very kind.

There are two YHA in town. This one has a better location. Only five minutes away from souther cross. Rooms don't look impressive but recently refurbished, especially toilets and bathroom. The open air patio is pretty good. Staff are friendly too.
