We have always enjoyed staying here and wondered why the review said the hotel was a bit tired. In our recent stay, we found out why. Our room had stains on the carpet and our lounge chair was all ripped which looked really tacky (I would suggest you remove the chair rather than keep it in the room). Our cupboards... More

The deluxe King room ws tucked away along the corridor. Large enough with a decent sized bathroom and all the facilities you'd expect from a 4 star establishment. Decor is suitable for business or travellers not intending to live in the hotel room. Booking was easy, check in very pleasant with knowledgeable staff providing local information. I did not get... Great room. Very modern and fairly spacious. Able to accommodate third person using sofa bed. Fantastic location for getting about the city. Very near the trams. Lots of great little restaurants nearby.

First rate service by very friendly, helpful staff. The room was spotless. Wonderfully comfortable bed. Quiet location in a lane-way but close to everything a visitor to Melbourne could possibly need.

Not only a perfect location but the customer service of your staff is exceptional. My friend needs a wheelchair to get around and they were always accommodating. Special mention to Melissa at the desk who went out of her way to help us set up the wheelchair and also to fix up a last minute confirmation with transfers. She is... More

Great place to stay and very close to all the main shopping outlets. Whilst the standard rooms were small it did the job and more given we were only in the room for a small amount of time. Just really enjoyed to place and its location. Breakfast in the mornings were also a treat and it was enough to get... More

We found the Causeway Hotel a pleasure to stay at. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only one piece of advice. If you need to park your car, you will be directed to Wilson Parking. I would recommend the one in Queen Street as it is open 24 hours a day, 7... More

If you are looking for centrally located, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation then this is a perfect place to stay. If you are expecting a licenced restaurant, cooked breakfast or room service then you will be dissapointed.

Location in the CBD. Close to trams and shopping. The Rooms are OK. Staff OK. Only Breakfast and very ordinary. Has Laundry facility and Gym. Most of the streets restaurants closed and a bit run down. Wifi not free. Overall an ordinary place. The only advantage being central location.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
