I was very pleased with my stay here. The location is just so fantastic, only a couple of minutes from Southern Cross Station, and right next door to several cafes, bars, restaurants and a 7 Eleven store. This is a great location to walk around the city and visit the attractions. I had a private double room, which had plenty... More

We were warmly welcomed and were told that we (3 people) would get a room for 4, so we really had a large room for us. The room was very cold as the window didn't close completely (it got better after putting plastic bags in the gap;)), it was not very clean, but okay for living in there. The shared... More

Thank you to the friendly staff at this hostel for making our stay enjoyable even if it was for one night. Staying for one night in Melbourne, we didn't want to pay top dollar and luckily Kings St backpackers had a room suitable for our short stay. For a minimum price per night, centrally located, close to Skybus station, china... More

Stayed here during my stay, found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Free wifi was a bonus, free breakfast was included and the bathrooms were clean but a bit small. Close to the transit centre for on going trips.

The staff made this hostel, they were friendly, informative, helpful and made the effort. The whole building is a bit tired but its well thought out. Each bed had a reading light and a locker, the bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were kept clean but again were a bit run down. The kitchen was small... More

I'm a get the bad news out of the way person, so let's start. - It's rundown. The bathrooms are dirty and need to be refurbished. That's about it (the rooms are quite fine). - No lifts, so be prepared if you've got a heavy suitcase, as you've got to haul it down one flight to the reception, then another... More

My partner and I are currently staying in a single room together on level 2... No lift The so called airconditioning is VERY NOISY, It masks the usual sound of traffic! The running of thier aircon is throughout and no remote control this is old style! If you are looking for a modern backpacker this isn't for you! On the... More

It is a big hostel, but it isn't very loud and noisy. Our room was a 16 bed dorm, but it was divided into sections so it didn't feel all that bad. There isn't free wifi, but you have two computers with Internet that is free of charge. Getting a spot was usually ok. The cleanliness of this hostel was... More

After staying here four years ago before I decided to stay here again on my shorter Australia trip this year. Most of the place is the same as it was before, and although there are different people, the same good ambiance was there again. The main room is an open place with reception and kitchen in it. Somehow this makes... More

Ive stayed here on a couple of occasions when ive been in melbourne for just a couple of days, as the location is ideal if you need to get to the airport or need regional trains. Other bonuses are free internet (slow when there are a lot of people using it, but its free), free breakfast (toast and cereal, but... More
