The location is excellent, just next to the Southern Cross station. The WIFI was not good on the first 2 nights we stayed, but then they have new things installed that the WIFI works great afterwards. They also have a lot of other things to offer, e.g. free breakfast, free pasta night, free pancake on Sunday, and HUGE breakfast on... More

Stayed in here for 2 days because no availability in another hostels. Fortunately i booked the 4 dorm bed (female), but my friend had the mixed dorm (i forgot 12 or 16 bed) and it was super mess. I didn't use the kitchen because it was too many people on lunch/ dinner time. The bathroom was filthy, but its alright... More

Stayed for two weeks in the biggest all-girl dormitory, and then a week in a 4-people dorm. The toilets and showers were gross and the first dormitory was not clean (one Kiwi girl told us that she had stayed there for two months and they had never been vacuumed or tidied). Sometimes the staff barged in, which I didn't really... More

Recently stayed here. Staff here are friendly. The hostel is very cold though. They need to fix the air conditioning there. It's cool in Melbourne at the moment and added air conditioning in your room makes you very cold. You would need a second blanket. Location is good. Wifi is slow though.

As I am flying around the world thought I should take a break from hotels to save on expenses. Management of this place is competent and friendly. Luke was particularly awesome. It surely must come with the territory it is like staying in a college dorm. So if that fits into your Australian adventure go for it. Bring a padlock... More

Everything was okay, the room is fine except the window blind in our room wasn't fix it makes us feel a bit insecure because you may see us from outside. The kitchen can be very messy and dirty especially after dinner time. But i would say the female toilet is clean! compared to the rest of the backpacker/hostel that i... More

Took our week long booking at short notice. Great value accommodation. Free breaky every day, free cooked breaky one day, free pasta dinner as well! Free wifi, but only on ground floor. Reasonably clean ammenities, kitchen not great even though users are supposed to clean up after themselves. Super friendly staff! Quiet and strict on noise.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
