The hotel was very cheap compared to other similar properties around Melbourne. Actually the standard of the service is still so good, so i think it's cheaper beacuse of location. While you can reach central melbourne in a ten mins walk (the corner) the only down is that there are no shops in a quite far area... so if you... more

I booked the Mantra because of its proximity to the MCG (and it IS very close, ideal for the football) but was pleased when I realized it is also only a 10-15 minute walk to the city. I didn't notice the noise referred to by a previous reviewer so maybe one side of the hotel is better than the other... more

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for a week whilst trying to find an apartment in the City and we couldn't recommend it more. The staff really are great and couldn't have been more helpful. We had a late arrival and the restaurant was shut but reception had a wide range of takeaway/delivery menus. Although this hotel is... more

I returned to melbourne to go to the football and see the changes in the city and wasn't dissapointed with the location of this hotel. Yes it is only 5 min to the MCG, yes its only 15 min stroll to St Kilda rd, and Southbank. The facilities were great and rooms spacious and well apointed and the location is... more

My partner and I stayed in a studio room for 2 nights last October (sorry for the late review). We picked this hotel because out of the ones that were available at the time, this had the most decent reviews on TripAdvisor. Having said that, couldn't get proper sleep either night because of the noise of the train. MCG and... more

I booked initially in the studio to try and maximise my cash having to be there for 7 nights. Once I saw the room I upgraded to the 1 bedroom with kitchen. the studio is TINY and you could do it for a night or two but not for a week, including trying to get work done. Overall it is... more

Check in was very ordinary indeed. Staff were polite enough but not overly friendly. The room was spacious and tidy but in need of a refurbishment. The Hotel looks lovely from the outside and the reception area is nice. Mini bar prices were outrageous and simple requests like a toothbrush/ paste weren't available. My breakfast also didn't arrive which was... more

Booked via wotif for proximity to Conference venue. I had booked a 1 bdr apartment and whilst the bed was comfortable, only two very hard pillows were provided so no other options in the wardrobe to consider. In a room that overlooked the railway lines so woken very early ( before 5 am) with trains moving in & out of... more

We booked this trip with Virgin Holidays. I took my husband there for our 1 yr anniv and loved the place.. We originally booked a standard room, however we upgraded for an extra $40pn to a 1 br apartment overlooking the city.. If you want this view, ask for room 809.. it's on the top floor! The staff were nice,... more

Nicely decorated, clean and roomy apartment and the staff were just outstanding (and I am fussy). Nothing was too much trouble for them. Despite being busy as they were fully booked they were just so friendly helping us with advice on trams and babysitting amongst other things. Room service was efficient and prompt. One night we discovered we had no... more
