Staff at this hotel were friendly and accomodating. The apartments are an odd configuration - entering via the bedroom, walking through the galley kitchenette to the large lounge. The only real issue I had in my room was that the water taps to the washing machine were turned off - something only discovered after much fussing around with the cycles... More

This is an apartment hotel a few minutes walk to Salamanca in one direction and the CBD in the other. Although on a busy intersection the 1 bedroom apartment was quiet and well-equipped complete with kitchen, washing machine and dryer. Parking is limited and you're best to reserve it when booking your room.

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. It is centrally located, although the entrance is a little hard to find in the first instance as is the entry to the car park. The apartment was a great size for 1 or 2 people and included cooking and laundry facilities. The lounge area had a large window that... More

Hi Jane D. Thank you for giving such detailed feedback on your stay with us. The units are self-catered as you point out, but we are working on a chargeback facility with a local cafe at Salamanca; just 3 minutes away across the park. Thanks to the double glazing the units are generally quiet, but I'll get the airconditioner serviced... More

Stayed in an executive apartment 3 nights prior to touring Tas. Cannot fault the size and cleanliness of the accommodation. And the price through Flight Centre was great. Everything was there that one could need for a short stay EXCEPT a view! Yes there was a window but only looked onto a brick wall. Fortunately the weather was great and... More

Hi Plantagenet. Great to hear that you enjoyed the big apartment during your stay with us. And of course happy to hear that the price was right, too. Drop us a line before you come to stay next time, and we will do our best to find you a room with a view. Kind regards Thomas Berstad General Manager More

The postal address may be Sandy Bay road but the entrance to Mantra is in Davey St. It would be helpful to mention this on the website. The need to pre book the limited onsite car parking is "buried" in the small print. Asking for $25 to use the wifi for two nights is exorbitant. The room was large and... More

Hi there Whiporie S. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your stay with us. Located on the corner of Davey st and Sandy Bay Road; we are central to everything, but you are correct; the entry to reception and the carpark is from Davey st. We will review our website information to ensure that directions are accurate. Hope to... More

On the surface, the location doesn't look great next to a really busy road and there is very limited (and expensive) parking but once you start walking around, it is a good spot for tourists and unbelievably convenient for Salamanca markets. The reception is pretty uninviting and the entry to the room across the car peak is also not very... More

Four night February stay $460. Very convenient to Salamanca, Battery Point, Harbour area and CBD. One bedroom apartment not overly stylish but comfortable and quiet though there was some inevitable traffic noise from the busy CBD streets. Building originally phone exchange and renovation preserved the heritage facade, so windows in our rooms, though large were about 1 metre off the... More

Weird room layouts. High road traffic noise-- needs double glazing. Well equipped kitchen for self catering style stay. Shame all crockery was dirty. Odd furniture-- looks like they've furnished from the op shop. Shoddy condition - spotlight hanging out of fitting. No extractor fan in bathroom/ laundry. Limited underground parking. Great location for vicinity to harbour and wharf however -... More

Hi jacbski. Thank you for giving feedback on your recent stay with us. We have shared your comments here at property level as our daily maintenance and housekeeping checks clearly missed your room before you checked in. As for the noise from the street; I will ponder what we can do in addition to the double glazing that is already... More

Hotel is a conversion of the 1926 building housing Hobarts first automatic telephone exchange. Room was large and comfortable with a seperate bedroom which could have done with a closing door for a little privacy from the lounge area for TV watching while partner sleeps. Close to Salamanca place and easy access to main road. May be as little over... More

After enjoying first rate accommodation with another couple throughout Tasmania, we ended up in Mantra One Sandy Bay Rd. What a let down. I concur fully with Tim M and Vanessa B's reviews. Seedy, run down, dull, devoid of anything resembling décor but worst of all dirty, with dust on many surfaces, carpet edge coming undone and revolting stains and... More
