The staff and other guests were wonderful to talk to and all extremely helpful. They were eager to engage in activities and the staff provided some free shuttles to surrounding attractions. However I'm not convinced this place was ever truly clean. Everything's a bit worn down and the showers are cold. It is also extremely crowded and ear plugs are... More

Stayed here for one night in Hobart and found everything pretty much spot on. Can't really comment on the kitchen facilities as we didn't use them only being here for one day but the bathrooms were nice and clean as well as our room which had clean sheets on the bed and a nice mattress. Only thing was the door... More

Had a great stay here, there was a free trip to Mona, free trip up mount Wellington with free maps. The staff were friendly and the hostel itself has everything you need for a brief stay (only stayed 2 nights) There are a lot of communal spaces, kitchen, tv room, bar, pool table. Its just a short walk to the... More

It was my first time staying in a dorm, and I think the whole experience was pretty good. Location of The Pickled Frog was rather convenient, pretty much a 10-15mins walk to everything (Salamanca market, Woolsworth supermarket, the shopping area along Elizabeth St, etc). Take the airport shuttle (AirporterHobart) to get here, the return pickup point is nearby as well.... More

I chose The Pickled Frog based on reviews on HostelWorld, plus, it was the same price as all the other hostels in Hobart, but had a unique style. I was extremely satisfied with my decision!! Emma and Jimmy put together wonderful free tours, whipped up beautiful $3 coffees, and have the patience and kind hearts of saints. The hostel's toilets... More

Most I've ever paid. Usually backpack third world so payin around 30$ per night made me nervous. Turns hot it was my best hostel experience out of maybe 50 different ones world wide. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Hobart. Extremely clean, helpful, friendly polite, knowledgable staff, not to mention a great cappuccino for $3 aus , can't best they... More

The room smelt of damp and the plug hole in the sink was completely clogged. The bathrooms also smelt awful and there was hair everywhere. The rooms had windows that opened internally, so you were facing other peoples bedrooms windows less than a metre from your room. Made for a very loud and uncomfortable night's sleep. Good things: location, price,... More

Good location for town. Shuttle bus from airport drops you literally 2 mins away from door. Free wifi Felt very homely as soon as you walked in, like an old London pub. Very nice. Room was clean Shower and toilet areas were kept clean. Kitchen was quite small but did the job. Nice little lounge area where you could watch... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and was really impressed. Has a quirky vibe with weird and wonderful artwork all over! Theres a big comfy lounge, lots of booths and different seating areas to eat / chill out without being on top of the other backpackers. Decent dorms, slightly cramped but beds were comfy. Great DVD collection with deposit system for... More
