Every time I come to Hobart (which is regularly for my PhD) I stay here. I have stayed in do rooms and in the more expensive rooms and have always enjoyed my stay. Central to everything, only a short walk to Salamanca and other galleries... Great beer selections downstairs also helps. But really the service makes it. Always happy to... More

This hotel was great in terms of location especially with the taste of tasmania going on and the sydney to Hobart, but I would describe it more as a hostel than a hotel. We were lucky enough to book a room with a toilet and shower inside, but the sliding door didn't close properly and it was tiny, better than... More

Sleeping: the rooms are freezing and rather damp, but functional enough. It could do with a better clean of the stuff that usually gets left to the side in many hotels (there were long, dark hairs all over the blanket. And no, none of us staying there has those), but the basics (sheets, towels, bathroom) were clean. Location: very central,... More

My recent dining experience was far from satisfactory. The majority of the staff were rude and unhelpful. It was felt throughout the dining experience that they were trying to hurry us along, the meal was average and i will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

The room was very cold. On street parking is a nightmare and the noise from backpackers is unbearable. Lots of noise drifts up from the rowdy folks partying in the alleyway on the side of the hotel. The location is very central to lots of shopping and restaurants, and only a short walk to Salamanca Place.

The hostel is perfectly located in the city. The facilities are simple and old, but preserved. The staff is kind and helpful. There is a pub in the first floor where you can enjoy the happy hour and listen to good live music, while you drink several beer brands by the fireplace.

I have stayed in many many backpackers all around the world (and Australia) and this was the worst experience so far. I had a double room to myself, which was fairly clean but had an old bandaid stuck on the window sill right next to my pillow. When you come in, it's all done up nicely to reflect the Brunswick... If you are use to staying at hostels in New Zealand, you will be terribly disappointed in the cleanliness, maintenance and management in this place. The pub is good, just don't get a room or go into the kitchen.

I have stayed in plenty of hostels in my time, and this ranks somewhere in the middle. I booked a 4 bed female room for one night (a Sunday) before a bus tour, and was lucky enough to have the room to myself. Check in open until 8pm (possibly 9, but I think 8) as per most hostels it is... More
