I had a great time at the Brunswick - Tassie Backpacker - hostel. It's a clean and quiet place where you also can enjoy to have a few drinks at the bar or in the great open common area. The location is super handy ( 1 minute across the supermarket, bottle shop and city center) and the decoration quite nice... More

As it came in very cheap prices, we did not expect much at first. However, TassieBackpacker at the Brunswick Hotel turned out surprise me with its very attentive receptionist n cool atmosphere. Cleanliness of the room was alright. Location is PERFECT. I reckon this place would suit worldwide backpackers very much. On a happier note, what made our trip unforgettable... More

I've been here on and of for the best part of a month. Staff have been awesome and friendly, rooms clean, linen clean, and lots of the rooms have good character and have been upgraded with air cons and glazing on windows. Clean towels daily. I stayed in double rooms and rooms with ensuite. Both excellent value, price more than... More

As soon as I walked in the front door and smelt the charcoal from the open fire I knew it was going to be good, and I wasn't disappointed. Efficient, friendly and helpful receptionist. Love at first sight for the bar/dining areas. Like an old English hunting lodge. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Room and bathroom were clean and... More

As two older women (late 60's and some!) not really expecting what we got, we were delighted by the friendly, helpful staff. Bed linen clean as were toilet and bathroom. A tad noisy but settled after midnight. Food was a surprise - better than expected. Don't expect modern as believe it is one of the oldest establishments of its kind... More

It's a big place with a lot of friendly people. The rooms are ok. The common areas are really good. They have a tv room that was a cozy place to read a book or have a chat but it wasn't 24/7, and you had nowhere to go but the rooms where people wanted to sleep... The bathrooms were clean... More

We arrived in hobart with no reservations, so was the only hostel we could find - a terrible mistake. There were more 2 guys in my room, one backpacker and the other a crazy australian who I supposed was living in the room for a long time. He spent the night playing on his computer, doing noises and using both... More

The hostel is kinda open, the walls and roof doesn't close completely which makes this a really cold hostel, I was here in November and it was so cold in the common are and kitchen at night. Rooms are okay, which there was windows that could be opened to let in some fresh air. This is the coldest place I've... More

Went here on Thursday night early with my family and had a nice quick meal. It was prompt, hot and good value (for Hobart). It does get busy and noisy later on so go early with a family. The outside and decoration could do with attention as it lets the area around down.

I paid for four nights, stayed three. There was a homeless man who obviously knew staff didn't check the building in any way when they locked up because he would go to the top floor around 8.30 and sit in the hall way, at about 10 he got his sleeping bag out and went to sleep. After two nights of... More
