Stayed there 4 days at the beginning and 2 days at the end of a 2 week Tassy driving holiday.Location pretty close to CBD without the noise. Bus stop to city centre outside hotel, pub and bottle shop around the corner.Hobart is hilly so this hotel is up on a hill with awesome views. If you want quiet go upstairs, but be... More

We stayed at the Mayfair on Cavell on 2 occasions in November. Both stays were for 2 nights. The rooms were clean and roomy and the staff efficient and friendly. The motel is close to the CBD and the Salamanca precinct. We had a top floor room for our first stay and a ground floor room the second time. The... More

We stayed in one of the bessa block standard rooms on the ground floor, where you heard everyone coming down the stairs and getting ready to leave in their cars. While it is inexpensive compared to other accommodation, you get what you pay for - very dated furnishings, old double bed where you move every time your partner moves. The... More

We stayed here for three nights recently. If you feel like stepping back in time to 1968 then this is the place for you. The furnishings and bedding were straight out of the 1960s..clean and presentable just dated. The shower pressure was terrific and the bed was comfortable. The only negative was that it's right at the top of a... More

My room did not look like the pictures. It was very old, in need of an upgrade and very dated. The room was musty and dusty though was cleaned after a complaint. The bathroom was adequate though there were no drawers and only found the hair dryer after some searching. Fan didn't work. The staff tried to be helpful at... More

Rooms are musty and a bit run down, but comfortable and spacious all the same. Ok for one night stay, as we were there new years eve and everything was very expensive. Shower was hot and water at a good pressure.

The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. They fixed a small problem quickly and were great about helping us out when we had requests (taxi, ice, luggage storage, et cetera). The location provides a nice view of the town. The beds were comfortable and it was clean and quiet. Sleep was easy to come by. It is on top of... More

We had few choices in staying at Hobart over the holiday period and booked over the Internet for a last chance room and expected it to be overpriced. However the staff were friendly and the locality excellent. The room was warm dark and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the pillows smelled of lavender. The TV worked but there... More

We chose Mayfair on Cavell because we wanted to stay I Hobart for a reasonable price. It is a decent walk from the center up a pretty steep hill. Take a cab if you have walking problems. The rooms are nice and big and the bed comfortable. It has a bit of the old motel smell we first walking inn.... More

tried to stay in September but found upon arrival that we were not booked in after all, despite calling the week before to confirm. The man on duty at the desk was not helpful at all. Thankfully we managed to find somewhere else otherwise we would have had to turn around and travel the 300 kilometers back home. would never... More
