Beautiful house, in a great location, near Salamanca and Battery Point. The house is spacious with heritage decor. We stayed in 4 poster bed at the front, in a large room, wonderful. Breakfasts were disappointing, but lovely stay overall.

We chose to stay at Gattonside instead of Clydesdale Manor, another property operated by Red Awnings, which we have stayed at before. Both properties are beautiful heritage houses but Gattonside is an easy walk to Salamanca Square. Although only a ten minute walk it is downhill towards the harbour so uphill on the way back! Also we normally walked to... More

Our group of 6 stayed at this gorgeous B&B over the weekend and fell in love with the place. The rooms are spacious and extremely well-appointed, the breakfast was substantial and our hosts, Skye and the team, could not have been more accommodating to our every need. This is a terrific place to stay, close to all major Hobart attractions.... More

We were extremely impressed by Gattonside - it's staff are helpful and friendly - there was no problem booking in well before the official time - the accommodation is great, large bedroom and a bathroom large enough to hols-in which to hold a party! Things do look a little tired in one or two places but the overall impression is... More

We had a lovely stay at the Gattonside Heritage. A lovely large bedroom on the ground floor. The traffic noise was a concern, but it didn't wake us up at all. The location gave us easy access to Salamanca Market and restaurants, the B&B was City Central. The breakfast was fantastic, though here was no choice from a menu selection.... More

Five minutes from Salamanca and the 'Blue eye' restaurant in a lovely restored mansion with a silent room. Lounge and breakfast rooms are very stylish, and the food was good. Truly attentional personnel, and then we had some long discussions with Christine. We tasted her red wine, which was very good, but as she was not there the last morning... More

Had a fabulous stay at gattonside. Enjoyed the amazing breakfasts very much, and our host Chrissie Richardson provided us with some excellent suggestions for our trip to to Derwent Valley. The location allowed for lots of walking to restaurants, into the city itself, sightseeing wonderful old buildings. The room was beautifully appointed, bathroom large and we had internet connection when... More

I expect attention to detail when paying for a 'premium' stay. The room was small and rather down at heel. Wifi so slow as to be useless, a fact acknowledged when complained about, the part-time manager didn't have the correct dates for our stay, dying flowers in the bathroom, stains on the carpet, odd broken hooks(?) on the back of the door,... Don't bother trying to get in before 2pm, this is a self-service 'boutique' B&B. The 'manager' sits in a little office behind the residence, so you'll have to rely upon other guests to show you around when you arrive. The comment "Hey, are you trying to take my job?" was beyond ironic. The room we're paying $250+ per night for... More

We stayed at this B&B for three nights. Our room was exactly as pictured but somehow was actually even better than the pictures. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. There was a fresh bouquet of roses that smelled amazing to welcome our arrival. Our bathroom was very large, and we were both able to soak in the tub while watching... More
