This hostel was pretty good for the price. I stayed in a 6 bed, all female dorm. The rooms, bathrooms and common areas were cleaned daily, showers had good pressure, laundry was fine. The bathrooms were separate to have one toilet, sink and shower which was also nice. The staff was very friendly and keep to help. The kitchen was... More

The YHA is cheap and that is why I picked it up. So you don't expect to get luxury rooms or very comfortable beds. Nothing really particular in there except that the kitchen is really really tiny. So you'd rather be early or late to have your meals because it gets quickly crowded. Showers are pretty good. Staff is nice.

We had a "Quality" (their classification) standard room with shared facilities. What we got: small room, queen sized bed, bedside tables, overhead and reading lights, clock radio, heater, open shelving and a mirror behind the shelving (who's idea was that?). What we didn't get: carpet, fridge, sink, tea making, space. There was no noise from the pub - the karaoke... More

This hotel is well placed. It is in the CBD and the waterfront is a block away. But that means it is beside a main road and main road traffic. Not as busy as Sydney, but enough to disturb sleep. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the tariff is OK for the location. The place is very clean. Non-suite... More

We stayed here as a couple in November whilst on a four night stop in Hobart as part of a extended trip around Australia. The hostel is in an excellent location.Comfy en-suite room with a good night sleep. The staff were great, good to chat with them. As the hostel is centrally located, its a short walk to good restaurants,... More

Stayed here with my Under Down Under group - no elevator as others have mentioned. Loved the individual bathrooms (they have bath mats!!) and the room (107 I believe) was super comfy and clean. BUT, the kitchen, honestly it's astonishing! SOOOOOO small for a place so big and it gets incredibly hot inside. There's space for maybe 9 people to... More

I didn't choose to stay here as it's generally pretty booked out. Our under down under tour booked out group in here. No lift and 3 levels with heavy bags, very small kitchen and luggage storage area. Reception opens at 8am. Stayed in room 105A, lovely corner room looking out to the old buildings and garden, big open windows,4 beds... More

On the positive the staff at the hostel are warm, welcoming and accommodating. I appreciated the time and advice they have given about Hobart during my stay. The hostel is also in a good central location in Hobart, with a supermarket and the local amenities near by. Sadly, my stay and sleep at the hostel was not good. I paid... More

The location of this hostel is excellent. It's within walking distance to the Elizabeth Street Pier and the Salamanca Market. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped me arranged my shuttle bus to the airport, got access to their free wifi service and offered restaurants recommendations. The kitchen is a bit small. There are plenty of clean dishes... Montgomery's is an old favourite and did not disappoint. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful as always. Opted fo a 'shared bathroom across the hallway' room - the amenities were clean and plentiful. It's great waking up in the middle of 'Old Hobart'!
