This was a treat on the return to Hobart and is a delightful small hotel. Quite some way out of the acvtion but well worth the trouble. The public rooms are fabulous, the bedrooms very good if not quite living up to the website (clever photography) and the staff attitude very good. Loved the gardens. Didn't like the long walk... more

The expertly refurbished Islington Hotel is a stylish haven brimming with luxury and comfort that far surpassed my expectations in every way. The extremely comfortable guest rooms were the perfect blend of contemporary and heritage style, the staff were friendly and welcoming and catered to my every whim, while the property itself is filled with an exquisite collection of antiques,... more

We have just hung some more original Tasmanian art ( where did it fit you may ask) for you to enjoy the next time you are down from Melbourne.

Recently I stayed at The islington Hotel for my birthday. Can I say what a wonderful surprise the hotel turned out to be! We were collected from the airport by a friendly hotel car and driver and whisked to the hotel in no time. The rooms are all beautiful with spectacular views across Hobart and to Mt Wellington beyond. However,... more

Organising that special dinner is something we pride ourselves on. We use produce from small, local organic producers or our garden where possible. Matched with wines from our extensive cellar and with the hotels award winning decor as a backdrop, what a happy birthday indeed.

Funny place Hobart, small rustic attitude and quite charming between the planning errors. Such style in the hotel, such promise, small but perfectly presented rooms and a beautiful drawing room. Suggested quick weekend prior to a longer trip - we will be back but not here! No wonder it was on a specail. The hotel is stuck on the outskirts... more

We can only be apologetic that eastendking didn't have the wonderful experience that the majority of our guests enjoy. We do take each review seriously and seek to be always improving our level of service and attention to detail.

From the very first contact with the wonderful people at The Islington, to our (regrettable) departure our “Islington Experience” was so much more than we could ever have asked or hoped for. A group of friends & my wife & I have an “Indulgent Weekend” away from home, family, work & the real world to relax & spoil ourselves every... more

You've made my day! I can only hope that all our guests have such a marvelous time in Hobart when guided by The Islington Hotel's wonderful staff.

Disappointed

Accomodation was great. But the details were forgotten. Paid for a luxury package which included a car to pick us up at the airport. It wasn't there and had to ring to have it sent to us. Other guests walking into our room when we were there, was very embarassing for all of us. When we arrived we were told... more

Fantastic all round. Our room was small, but lovely. Service was outstanding. Location was a bit outside the central core, but a lovely walk to the main shops and restaurants. Room was impeccably cared for and maintained. Everything I would expect in this price point and more. Highly recommended. more

Stayed at the Islington for 4 nights on our first holiday to Hobart. Would have to agree with most of the comments about the Islington in that its is a little piece of luxury in a boutique hotel that has all the charm and service of a very up market B&B or Guest House. As has been said you do... more

Islington is something of a mix between a 5 star hotel and a top flight B & B. For us, it represented a perfect marriage between new and old. The original building has been extensively renovated and the modern addition seems perfectly integrated. Our hosts and the hotel staff were professional, friendly and obliging. Dining-In is an experience not to... more

After hearing of this hotel during a bit of a PR blitz a year or so ago, I was determined to stay here. A trip to Tasmania proved the perfect antidote from the madness of pope week in Sydney. We booked a standard room on wotif for around $200. Be warned though, the wotif rate doesn't include breakfast which is... more
