Not the first time I've stayed at the Prince of Wales and certainly won't be the last. For the price, you simply will not find a better location from which to base all your Hobart experiences....... Salamanca, MONA Ferry/Bus, Blundstone Arena/ Bellerive Oval, Mt. Wellington..... It appears they have made some recent upgrades to the rooms also, new carpets, splash... More

We were in town for a short business trip with some extra time to take in the local attractions and found this hotel to be excellent and in a GREAT location! 2 min walk and you are in the heart of Salamanca and don't need to worry about finding a car park for your car. While the room was relatively... More

We selected the Prince of Wales for our arrival in Hobart and departure lodge after our tour around Tasmania. I asked for quiet room -10 was offered but I was warned it might not have Wifi. From my tests NO room has acceptable WiFi signal. I walked slowly with my laptop to each end of the corridor refreshing the connections... More

Thank you for taking the time to give us your constructive criticism on your stay at The Prince of Wales. We are glad to hear you love Battery Point as much as we do. It is the perfect base for Hobart exploration. I understand your inconvenience not having Wifi in your room. Our warning must not have been explicit enough,... More

We had a group dinner, and whilst the choice of menu was quite broad, the service and time to serve (over 20 meals) was a bit slow and disorganised. The meals area is quite neat, but go beyond to the service areas and the place shows it is a bit tired. Wines by the glass offered excellent good quality choices

The good: short walk down to Salamanca Market on Saturdays, and the pier with Mures and other food places. Very nice. Owen who met us on the Friday night (good Friday, at that) to let us check in was very friendly, went out of his way to make sure we got to our room. Room prices were quite affordable. The... More

I will start with the good things, location and breakfast included. Bad things: it wasn't clean, it is old, we had bed side tables were two chairs, toilet was dirty, we had laundry bags at the door for 24 hours, doors were scratched, "kitchen" is just a bunch of appliances in a corner (no basin), curtains didn't work properly, you... Old furniture and simple facilities are OK, but my room was grubby; the carpet old and stained, dust and dirt in corners and under the bed. The TV remote, the clock and the bedside lamp were covered in old sticky marks and dust/fluff. The bathroom sink taps were lacking their tops and one dripped. There were broken tiles on the... More

The pub and bottle shop are on the first floor. I really enjoyed the steak I had there, one of the better ones I had during my three months around Australia. Plenty of parking. I'd would highly recommend it if your'e looking for an easy pub meal that actually tastes great.

Can't say i was overly impressed with this hotel. The pub bit downstairs is quite happening, so if you are a light sleeper i wouldn't recommend staying, but food was pretty decent though. The hotel itself has a very old motel feel to it, but the room was spacious and has parking if you are driving. Location wise was good,... More
