Had NYE meal with friends. Menu was basic pub fare but a little overpriced, $23 for a schnitty? 3 items to choose from for desert was a bit poor. Service was quite good, although we were given soup spoons for desert and they had run out of seafood sauce for salmon. The live music was not great and died as... More

The Prince of Wales Hotel is in Battery Point, Hobart, which is a fantastic location - lovely old houses, beautiful views and close to the Saturday market. Rooms were very reasonably priced - breakfast (in the room) was included, and the hotel has a bar and restaurant facilities with very cheap meals. Highly recommended for a visit to Hobart.

Very convenient location short drive or not too long a walk into Salamanca or cbd. Low priced counter meals available in pub and friendly restaurant in the building. Service with a smile and great parking. Rooms were a little noisy (thin walls) not squeaky clean but certainly not dirty. Comfortable beds and lousy little TV. Complimentary continental breakfast was very... More

This is a great place to stay if you want inexpensive accommodation in a historic location. Rooms are above the hotel, but it is in a residential area so is quiet at night. Staff are friendly and very helpful - they will store luggage and call taxis. Salamanca Place is a short walk down Kelly Street and Kelly Steps -... More

Have stayed here three times now when visiting Hobart and really like the place. It IS a pub, so there are no frills, but the rooms are clean and warm, the views ( from even numbered rooms) are great and staff super-friendly, which counts for a lot. The location is also excellent, in pretty Battery Point, lots of cafés around,... More

Whilst this is an older style pub the accommodation was fine for the money paid. In fact it was the cheapest that we found in tasmania. It is basic but it has everything you need. Great location and helpful staff. Did read some reviews before staying. Think there are some wingers who expect the hilton on a budget. It is... More

This hotel is surprizingly close to Salamanca place and within walking distance to the Waterfront, where I had business this trip. I loved staying in the historic area and soaking in all the quaint places. My room was average, the bed very comfy and it was lovely having cereal breakfast things in the room, which meant that I could eat... More

We loved staying here as a family of 4 in the Suite. Queen plus bunk beds (squeaky) in separate room plus a lounge with comfy couches! Even a large balcony wit water views and Mt Wellington. Rooms neat and no problem with cleanliness. Basic hotel style accomodation. Ate at restaurant and all meals were excellent. There is noise from bands... More

We stayed here anticipating 3 star accommodation close to Salamanca Place. The location was first class but we would strongly advise against staying at the hotel. The accommodation was less than basic - clean beds was about it. There were untagged power boards with multiple appliances coming off, no air conditioning, noisy fridge but the tipping point that had us... More

This place is absolutely horrible! Very dusty rooms, moldy shower, blown light globes, and smelly doona covers! The ONLY thing good about this place is the location, I would rather pay a bit more for a comfortable stay. Also on the plus side the cleaning staff were very friendly and a simple breakfast was provided. This place was truly terrible,... More
