Our room was "tired" and dirty. The toilet was dirty, bar fridge was filthy and the floor in front of the fridge was filthy, the curtains in the room were literally falling off, everything was covered in dust. The kitchen cupboard doors were holding each other up. The cutlery draw was dirty along with the cutlery in it. The arms... more

The hotel has now mended all curtains in this particular room and has cleaned out areas that were previously below par. This is not a standard of our housekeeping and the property is working hard to ensure that our minimum standards are met and a situation such as yours does not repeat itself.

Hotel is located on a hill North of Hobart and it takes a good 30 - 40 minutes to walk to the centre. The walk is not particularly interesting or attractive. The hotel itself is like an old style lodge and we had an apartment studio in an annexe to the main hotel. This was spacious and quiet and well... more

Thank you for posting for our hotel. The hotel is situated in North Hobart however if you are wanting to walk into the city then going via North Hobart is a very good option as there are cafes, restaurants and retail stores along the way. We are in a quieter location then the CBD hotels which some guests prefer plus...

I had taken a week's get away and booked the cottage at the Rydges. I must say it was just as described in the pictures and hotel website. Totally rustic and amazing and the perfect get away for a couple. It has a seperate living room - the bathroom is the size bigger than most hotel rooms today & the... more

Thank you for your feedback! I have to agree that the Heritage Listed Cottages are a fantastic place to stay and they are by far the most popoular room type we have. We certainly look forward to seeing you again. Regards Jeremy Crawford

Responding to a previous review - we also used the Entertainment Card and found that our booking (we also had our email printed out as proof of booking) was not registered at Rydges Hobart. The look on the Receptionist's face when she viewed my email, looked at her computer screen, and then called the manager - said it all! However,... more

It was our first time we stayed in a Rydges Hotel any where in Australia and over all we were not disappointed- we stayed in a 2 bedroom antique styled room which had some lovely furnishings and plenty of room for the 4 of us. Plenty of car parking space also. Which was good as it seemed busy at the... more

It sounds like you had a wonderful stay and we do appreciate the time you have taken to post this feedback. It sounds like you enjoyed much that Tasmania has to offer and we would truly welcome you back to the hotel again for future stays. We are constantly changing our menus too so if you enjoyed the restaurant we...

Thought it was going to be a great deal from Wotif. Stayed in a Manor King Room. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, however, the previous occupants makeup was still on the pillowcase. The plumbing for the building is extremely noisy (so if your neighbors are up early, so are you). The suspended cement walkway past the bedroom window... more

We thank you for your feedback. Hopefully you alerted our front office team about the presence of ants as it is something we manage on a regular basis but unfortunately they just pop up unexpectedly sometimes. We can however remove them quickly if it does occur. We try to provide a balance between consistenly fast and affordable internet. The rates...

well, we tried it out - see my review below. were a bit concerned about booking for four nights as i am fussy and usually stay only five star. I was very impressed. look online though for cheaper rates. their priority member rate was more expensive than what you can get online. everything was exceptional. the staff appear to be... more

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We have looked into the difference in online rates compared to Rydges.com to ensure rate parity across the board for all of our products. Our pool is outdoor and only solar heated so only gets to a usable temperature during summer (unless you can brave the cold!) and we are looking at plans...

I wish to thank the staff of the Rydges Hobart for a most enjoyable stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying in Hobart. It is indeed a bit of walk to the CBD, we only tried it once on the day we visited Salamanca Markets, thereafter we drove and found to our surprise that parking in... more

We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Yes it is fairly easy to find parking in Hobart on the weekend and we try to make it easier by providing free parking to every guest here in the hotel. We hope to see you back here again soon. From the team at Rydges Hobart.

An unusual hotel as it includes two heritage buildings as well as some more modern blocks. We stayed for three nights in the main hotel block in a heritage room. It was clean and comfortable ( Rydges beds are amongst the most comfy). Overlooking the Hobart AFL ground but no matches while we were there. The young staff at this... more

Thank you for your response. The football ground is used approximately every two weeks. The hotel is a little out of town so we offer free parking for those wishing to leave a car there. If walking we can recommend going via the North Hobart retail and cafe strip which is half way to the city. We trust you enjoyed...

We visited Hobart in March 2009 and stayed at this Rydges for two nights. The property is a renovated old schoolhouse composed of multiple different buildings, and our room, a queen suite, was huge -- it could have easily been subdivided into two comfortable sized rooms or had extra beds to make it a family suite. There were high ceilings,... more

Management response from
FrqntTrvlrAustralia, General Manager

Thank you for your response. Our rooms are fairly large in size for comfort reasons. We can install more beds but we already have several family suites and rooms with additional bedding so prefer our guests to enjoy the space. The North Hobart restaurant district is nice and close and we hope to see you back here at Rydges again.
