If you can get over the architectural nightmare that allowed this to be built on the harbour front, a Great place to stay. Rooms ok- defo go for a harbour view , worth the few extra $, good indoor pool, gym , etc. Staff good. 2 double bedded rooms just about large enough for family with 2 kids

We have stayed at the Grand Chancellor a couple of time previously and it appears to have undergone a renovation since our last visit. The beds are comfortable, pillows of good quality. Bathrooms include ample toiletries, towels are fluffily. The hotels best asset is the location - right across the road from constitution dock and the ample supply of good... More

This was my first stay here as the usual place I stay at was booked out and also I wanted full hotel service rather than an aprtment for this trip. I stayed four nights - originally two nights but was able to extend my stay at very short notice. I was very impressed with the hotel. I had a top... More

Stayed in a Superior Harbour View room on the 16th floor. The room was large ane well appointed. The hotel is modern, spacious and very clean. Shower in the bath and the bathroom had been modernised but not totally refurbished. The desk staff are helpful and there was never a hold up at reception and lifts were prompt. The hotel... More

This was our second stay here, but this was for a week instead of only a few days. We came back because of the earlier experience, and we're as well pleased as on the earlier visit. The concierge desk staff were exceptional, the house-keeping staff were all 110%, and the staff in the Atrium Bar were fantastic, as well. We... More

We were upgraded to a superior room but alas still a mountain view room. The room was large and extremely comfortable. Although on the 19th floor the hotel seems to have lost about 8 floors. The city, hills, Tasman Bridge view was still very good. The location makes this hotel with so many places in easy walking distance

If you choose to stay at the grand chancellor, definitely opt for the harbour view rooms, you wont be disappointed. Geographically, the hotels position is great. A stone throw from great restaurants on the harbour and a 5 minute walk to salamanca and the mona boat pier. Overall, the hotel is clean and rooms are well kept with daily room... More

We stayed as we were doing the Hobart marathon. We asked for a one hour extension on checkout and were told no due to staff rosters. We discovered our room had not been serviced and were told there was an additional charge for this. The pool and surrounds were filthy. Certainly not a five star experience and exceptionally poor value... More

We decided to spend a bit more and stay here for our final night in Hobart, and it was totally worth it! Fabulous views over the harbour, large spacious rooms, great pool area and friendly service. Loved staying here and meant we finished our holiday on a high

We stayed here on 13/10/14. It was our 30th Wedding Anniversary and our first time to Tassie. It was a fabulous hotel which was made even better since they gave us an upgrade with a Beautiful view over the Harbour and Spacious room. It's close to restaurants and the Salamanca Markets even though we weren't there for Market Day its... More
