This place is a shocker. It's at the budget end of the spectrum but is below what you'd normally expect from a backpackers. The rooms are filthy as are the showers and toilets. People were up and about at 4 am and the noise carries loudly through the rooms. If there's anuthing else available then take it.

We stayed here in Aug 14, we stayed 2 nights and booked 2 family rooms and expected to be "underground" and the kids were looking forward to it. After collecting the keys we found we just walked into the rooms, they were in fact in the side of a rock!!! We noticed that there were rooms down stairs underground, just... More

Great staff, spacious motel rooms, plenty of tea and coffee served. Tried Tom and Mary Greek Taverna ( I wasn't impressed with the food). Wendy the waitress is a real trooper. Efficient, helpfull and friendly. Joes Pizza just down the road has great food, Shell across the road for a cooked breakfast. BE CAREFULL WHEN booking as the room price... More

We stayed underground (well underground in the side if a hill) in a motel room. The room was entered via a shared hallway which meant some late home-comers were noisy and kept me awake for some time. Price was quite ok at $135 but the cons were that the room was small, shower not great and as already mentioned, it... More

Great for a couple of days, Martin the manager was friendly. Big clean kitchen and quiet TV room. Feels like something from Arizona or the Mexican border, kinda cool. Well serviced, it is no backpacker slum.

I really enjoyed our 2 day stay in a Motel room here. The room was clean, cool and had an excellent hot shower, which was much appreciated after a day spent noodling on the public hills. We had access to the kitchen while we were staying there, and I was extremely impressed by how clean it was! It was nice... More

There are a number of hotels in Coober Pedy that have been dug out so that you live underground. The Radeka is a great example. We had a twin room that was 6.5m underground. When we arrived Coober Pedy was in flood (this only happens once a decade) and we had to drive through 1 metre of water to reach... More

We did not stay in this motel, so this review does not concern accommodation - we booked a tour to the Breakaways with them. No problem, no worries, just come at 1pm, we have plenty of free seats...When we called 1hr before the departure to confirm (as requested), we were told their drived had cancelled and the tour was not... We had a great time staying here, the service was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Amazing location and staying underground was a great experience and very cool when the weather outside is hot.

Pretty neat experience. We had the private double room which was good, spacious, quiet and comfortable. GREAT SERVICE, reasonable prices. One of my best sleeps in Aus. I'd avoid the dorms, there not very private, mostly cause there's no door its all open to the hallway, but all in all a REALLY GOOD EXPERIENCE.
