When I landed here for a job didn't expected to find good hotels in such a small town. But apparently there are few hotels around here. Most of them are cave experience hotels. Because coober Pedy is famous for opal mines and because of high temperatures people live in underground caves. Now don't confuse these caves with those of prehistoric... More

I recently stayed at the Comfort Inn and as soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by the friendly owner Debbie. I was shown to my pretty "cool" underground room where everything was clean and tidy. For breakfast I enjoyed an extensive self serve continental assortment to choose from. I also had a great sleep knowing my... More

I stayed at this place a few months and was destined to return. Why? Staying underground in the Comfort Inn at Coober Pedy is an experience of a lifetime and a must "to do". Debbie is warm and welcoming and generous in sharing her local tips of what you can do and where to go while staying here. You won't... More

You are welcomed in the door by a cheerful voice and smiling face. The rooms are clean and large. Being underground is very unique and it is explained to you how it all works. Would highly recommend staying.

If you are looking for a place to stay for a night or week don't look any further. Clean friendly, nice and cool with the true history of this mining town at your door step. Great family run motel. When there ask for a tour of the old caves under the motel.

Our host, Debbie, cheerfully went out of her way to help us out, including picking us up, and dropping us off, at various Coober Pedy venues. The underground hotel was incredibly interesting, clean and very comfortable. Instantly, upon walking through the doorway, the temperature dropped to a comfortable 20C. Going down a gentle inclined ramp, you become aware of the... More

We stayed here, was our 1st experience with an Underground motel, it was amazing, beautifully presented Motel, with the freedom to walk all through the motel that was originally a opal mine but now buetifully transformed with all the comforts expected. The beds were super comfortable, the staff were lovely, accomodating and friendly. If i am in Coober Pedy again... More

This is one of the really "cool" places in Coober Pedy. it was a scorching 42 degrees C when we were there and the hotel is carved out of the remnants of a old Family Opal mine. It is a family run business and they truly care about you and your comfort. Sleeping underground is a rare experience that one... More

I was a little apprehensive about sleeping with ground over my head, but wanted the kids to have an experience they'd remember. I'm glad we did it. The ambient light of an underground motel is surprisingly beautiful with it's orange earthy hues; none of the photos I've seen on Trip Advisor can really quite convey the beauty of the atmosphere.... We had a great three night stay here. We soon became accustomed to the concept of underground living-windowless rooms are an unusual concept! The room was spacious and included a kitchenette facility. The bed was comfortable. The welcome was friendly and we were given plenty of helpful advice about the town and its environs. Continental breakfast was very reasonably priced... More
