Based on a glowing review in a usually reliable guidebook, we phoned Annie's and were delighted to get in. I can't recall having been so disappointed. Some of the promised positives were there - it's a brief walk from the CBD; there's free parking across the street; the actual staff (as opposed to the inept backpacker help) was friendly and... more

I have been at this hostel for 3 weeks, staying in a 10 bed dorm paying $20 a night. This is the best value hostel i have stayed in, including free breakfast. Some people are rather confused with the details regarding the features of the hostel, the website needs to be updated which i have stressed to the manager and... more

Annie's Place picked us up from the airport for a flat fee of $15. Nice telephone manner. We booked in for 2 nights. Arrived at the dorm, checked in to the room, the guy already in there seemed a bit dodgy but nice enough. The room also stank of weed. A comment was passed by the management, but was generally... more

One of the best hostels i visited in my 12 years of travelling.I stayed at Annies for more than 2 weeks and me and my friends really enjoyed every minute of it. I cannot understand people writing all this crap. The stuff was very helpful, day and night, and the cleaners working hard to clean the mess, some guys left... more

I stayed in this hostel for 6 days and I had a great time. The staff were really friendly, and its really close to the main streets of Adelaide, and the train station. I stayed in a 6 bed ensuite female room. The room was huge, and the bathroom was average, but it was clean. There is a curfew in... more

I am struggling to find words to describe the state that this hostel is in. The rooms just generally look grotty and the lack of windows mean that the build up of damp on the walls is unbeliveable. I took 3 showers a day to get the musty stench off me but I was still left feeling dirty. I actually... more

the website looked friendly and inviting but do not be fooled! on arrival you wonder why one wall is painted dark blue... the answer? its running with condensation and damp! there is no windows to open, no ventiliation for the bathroom and the beds were less than inviting! the music blasts from the "bar" (if you can call it a... more

Annie's has to be the worst place I have ever stayed. The rooms were not only dark and dirty, but also incredibly damp. We would all wake up in the morning feeling slightly wet and cold and there were no heating facilities on offer. The staff were far from helpful and seemed more intent on playing music as loudly as... more

My husband and I were heading to Adelaide for the Clipsal 500 and after spending quite a lot of money on passes for the event, were looking for a cheaper accommodation option. I stumbled across the annies place website. It looked quite charming, the rooms looked nice and spacious, and it had free carparking. The girl on the phone said... more

Some places go downhill, but Annie’s Place has fallen off a cliff. I stayed here 2 years ago and it was fine. Not now. Read on. Bed bugs make for a major annoyance but it did not begin there and neither does my review. They knew we were arriving late, but the staff forgot to leave us our room key... more
