Before you kick the bucket , get in and have a cold beer , great bar with lots of history . Aussie icon and cold beer between the lovely Marree and Birdsville . After a long hot drive & a need for fuel (car) and Cold 4x it's like heaven in the outback .A must do trip .

I would have to say that this little hotel "oasis" on the trip to Birdsville would be the best ever stopover. I cannot tell you how much fun we had the night we stayed over. Got a donga for the night, and could not be any happier with the accommodation. The proprietor "Phil" was the best entertainment. The food delicious... More

The room was small and expensive. So were the meals, although they were tasty enough. The bar was interesting, to say the least. There must be hundreds of hats and caps hanging from the ceiling. What is it with outback pubs and headgear? There is an interesting cemetery behind the pub with graves of the early pioneers. The headstones tell... More

A mate and I have just returned from 2 weeks in Outback South Australia. We stayed in Cabins for most of the trip as that is all that is available and Mungerannie fits this. We arrived at the hotel early afternoon and had a great burger for lunch and a couple of cold beers that went down well. Dinner was... More

The road from Marree to Birdsville is a slow trip no matter what you are driving or what the weather is due to the gravel and stones. Having the Mungerannie Hotel half way is a godsend in many ways - it allows you to enjoy the Track in a more leisurely fashion, achieve mechanical repairs if necessary, have a meal... More

Travelling along the Birdsville Track towards Marree as part of a DownUnder Coach trip, we stopped at Mungerannie for our lunch. The hotel is another one of those wonderful and quaint outback pubs with an array of hats and other items on the walls and ceiling, and looked after by friendly hospitable hosts. Lunch was a bbq of delicious sausages... More

Loved our night here and the hospitality of landlord 'Mungerannie Phil'. He introduced us to the legendary story of Tom Kruse, the Birdsville Mailman and we spent an awesome afternoon watching the old 1952 black and white 'There and Back' movie about his life on the track. Fascinating and a thoroughly enjoyable avo, thank you!

Stopped in to the hotel on the Birdsville track for a beer on our way to Birdsville. Got stuck there! Debbie and Phil are the best! Real bush pub experience that I was looking for. Cold beer, reasonable food, lots of things to look at. Best of all they have clean facilities. They also have a hot artisan pool. Will... More

Halfway down the Birdsville Track to Marree, and we had had enough of camping after 5 nights at the Birdsville Races. As I was towing light, beat most others there, and got the only room with an ensuite, hence called the Honeymoon Suite. rate I thought was reasonable for such a peak period. Also gave us enough room to plug... More
