Travelling along the Birdsville Track towards Marree as part of a DownUnder Coach trip, we stopped at Mungerannie for our lunch. The hotel is another one of those wonderful and quaint outback pubs with an array of hats and other items on the walls and ceiling, and looked after by friendly hospitable hosts. Lunch was a bbq of delicious sausages... More

Loved our night here and the hospitality of landlord 'Mungerannie Phil'. He introduced us to the legendary story of Tom Kruse, the Birdsville Mailman and we spent an awesome afternoon watching the old 1952 black and white 'There and Back' movie about his life on the track. Fascinating and a thoroughly enjoyable avo, thank you!

Stopped in to the hotel on the Birdsville track for a beer on our way to Birdsville. Got stuck there! Debbie and Phil are the best! Real bush pub experience that I was looking for. Cold beer, reasonable food, lots of things to look at. Best of all they have clean facilities. They also have a hot artisan pool. Will... More

Halfway down the Birdsville Track to Marree, and we had had enough of camping after 5 nights at the Birdsville Races. As I was towing light, beat most others there, and got the only room with an ensuite, hence called the Honeymoon Suite. rate I thought was reasonable for such a peak period. Also gave us enough room to plug... More

If ever there was a need for a half way stop on a long and dusty track, this is it. The drive up from Marree is pretty good as gravel roads go but a refreshing ale was called for. We towed a van and opted to camp by the lagoon. Glad we broke that journey. The pub T bone and... More

Travelling north with family, 2 adults, 2 children and camper trailer. What a great spot, plenty of room to set up trailer, hot spring nearby, cold beer in the bar, great showers and toilet and even managed to get a tyre on the trailer replaced. Highly recommended and the Publican is an absolute character.

What a fantastic surprise! Stopped here overnight on our way back from Birdsville races - loved it! There is a little bit of everything at this stopover, including an artesian bore with a swimming hole. Totally unexpected! There is also a tyre repair shop (first service we used). The tyre fellow is an absolute crack-up and had our tyre repaired... More

Loved this pub. Stopped in for brekky and a shower after spending the night camping along the birdsville track. Had a nice hot shower and the brekky was fantastic. In fact most of the pubs in the middle of nowhere that we have stopped at have betta meals than u get in the city, and the staff were really friendly... More

Mungerannie is an amazing place, iv have been there many, many times. There is a shower block, toilets, room, fuel, camping areas, Tyre shop and mechanic, pub, restaurant and hot spring. Considering the Hotel is in the middle of the Birdsville track, the toilets, showers and rooms are always kept clean and sanitary. The food is great and the service is... More
