We booked 5 nights and stayed 2! We have 2 young children and were dissappointed in Long Island. Hopeless from a child point on so many levels. Pool only has small shallow area which includes the swim-up-bar and is beside the restaurant and pool-bar. Made us uncomfortable as wedding parties were hanging round pool while we swam/played. Food hopeless for... more

After reading reviews on this site, we changed from 10 nights to 5 nights (thank goodness!!) Rooms are small and old, food is horrible, great place if you like frankfurts and sausages for dinner as an option. In the dining room we had to constantly ask for more of everything and most dishes are not labled so you have no... more

We (three family groups with young kids) just came back from a few days at Long Island. Chosen because of the great 'local rates' available and in school holidays too! Yes I agree with some of the reviews - it is a bit shabby and needs a lot of work done - but I also know that with our wet... more

Grubby and dusty rooms. Smelly bathroom ,dirty mirror, stains all over bench ,mould in grout. Water left in steam iron sitting on top of safe which was covered in thick dust. I think we paid $3 for the use of the safe. Spiders and ants crawling around. the room,. Half empty small bottle of used water left in fridge. Recycled food... more

I went to Long Island with my partner and was sorely disappointed with pretty much everything! We got the Romance Package, which we didn't even receive all of the inclusions of the package! All the meals were included however i was happier to pay for food at the cafe as the meals were shocking!!! Put it this way, one night... more

Having just returned from a 14 night holiday at the Whitsundays...7 nights each at Long & Daydream Island (separate review) we found that Long Island is best suited for couples & Daydream is definately best suited for families. At long Island we had the Romance package which included all meals, 15 minute Helicopter joy flight, 30 minute massage, Beachfront room,... more

WE were after a place to sit back and relax and this is exactly what we found. We were not interested in the night life or participating in numerous acticities, just sitting by the water enjoying a cool drink or two.The rooms were basic but we found them to be clean and serviced appropriately every day.We dined at the resturant in... more

What a disapointment,we were travelling with friends from London and after a stay at Hamilton Island this was a big let down. The photos in the brochure looked as if they had been taken 20 years ago. The place was full of backpackers and Kontiki tours and it was very roudy. The rooms were filthy with mouldy shower curtains and... more

Went to the resort for 3 nights for a friends wedding. Loved every minute. The staff at check in wasnt the greatest but they got the job done. Rooms were simple but practical for a beach resort and the view from the beach front unit was amazing. My friend had no problems with her wedding and one staff member went... more

I have just returned from Long Island in the Whitsunday Islands and can only say it was a big dissapointment, The rooms were shabby, dirty and old fashioned and in need of a major revamp. The food was ordinary at best, and the drinks were served in plastic glasses that looked decidedly unclean and were expensive, but as it was... more
