In August 2007 we spent 9 amazing days on Heron Island. The main reasons for choosing Heron Island were: 1. It's an Ecoresort 2. It's directly on the Great Barrier Reef 3. It was one of the cheapest options with the above advantages My boyfriend and I could hardly await our arrival on the island. Our excitement was a bit... more

The island is in a beutiful setting, and swimming with baby sharks and turtles was fantastic, but the resort needs a lot doing to it to make it good place to stay. Rooms are old and a bit tired, patio furniture needed replacing years ago and the swimming pool is very small. The island is manned by backpackers who appear... more

we stayed at Heron Island as part of our honeymoon as we wanted to have a tranquil stay on a secluded island with plenty of scuba and snorkelling opportunities. The island itself is secluded and you really do feel that you are away from all the hectic requirements of everyday life, however the turtle chalets where we chose to stay... more

The reason for staying here was that you can snorkel the reef without getting on a boat, beautiful beaches, and wildlife. We were not disappointed, it is absolutely stunning here, the sand is white the sea is clear blue safe for childrenand the reef is a few feet from the waters edge and truly amazing. We snorkelled with sharks saw... more

We stayed on Heron Island for 5 nights from 2nd April and we enjoyed every minute. The room we had was a Point Suite and had a fantastic position overlooking the reef with beautiful sunsets each night. The room is one of the more expensive rooms which we believe was well worth the money and very comfortable. The diving and... more

Heron Island is beautiful, no question about it. The water and beaches can't be beat. We saw sharks, turtles and manarays right at the shore. Our snorkel tour was very nice and the crew was great. We were lucky to get to snorkel as the weather had been poor and only divers had been going out. Our room was a... more

We visited this resort a few years ago. We wanted to experience the Great Barrier Reef, but how? * We wanted something that was part of the GBR itself. * We wanted immediate access to the reef and to the diving. * We wanted to avoid the jellyfish. * We didn't want a yacht or live-aboard. * Also, we didn't... more

We travelled to Heron Island for the first few days of our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time at the resort and it really made our honeymoon a very special time for us. On arrival I was slightly disappointed as it wasnt the luxury resort I'd been expecting (for some reason), but the more time I spent there the more... more

We stayed for 5 days Jan 2008. The Island, coral, marine and wild life were incredible, words could never do them justice. Voyages hotel was the exact opposite. All the public buildings and pool area are long overdue a substantial refurbishment. They are not the bright glossy buildings that appear on Voyages web site and brochures. The food and service... more
