I stayed here recently and booked through a "last minute" hotel website. It was advertised as being an 11-13 floor room - I got put on the 1st floor. The Aquarius on the Beach has got to be the best located hotel/motel in Townsville. The deceptively plain exterior doesn't reveal the hidden secret inside which is, that all of the rooms have views over the cleveland bay and magnetic island area...beautiful! Stayed two nights and found the hotel perfectly satisfactory. Room was refurbished, smart and modern. A problem with the balcony sliding door was eventually fixed. It is however, run apartment-style with no restaurant and restricted reception hours. I ordered the room service full breakfast which, at $18, was not cheap but ample and well prepared.
