I stayed here for 4 nights with my sister. The hotel is clean, in a great location and the staff are awesome. Check in was so easy, we arrived at the hotel at 10am and our room was already waiting for us even though check in isnt till 2pm. The staff at the front desk were friendly and extremely helpful.... more

This hotel is in a good spot, not in the city but just over the bridge, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff are polite and helpful, but without a doubt the best thing about this hotel is the restaurant, the food is awesome, their dinner menu is just divine, try the yearling eye fillet, and they have a... more

Clean apartment, but reasonable distance from hotel. Need swip key to exit hotel+ key to enter lobby of apartment then room. Lift slow and stairs locked from inside- makes no sense. Neighbours lawn sprinkler on @ 5.am and drilling into fence. Stark inside. Hotel pool run down. Will make more careful choice next time in Townsville more

I stayed at Rydges for two nights and when I needed to unexpectedly stay in Townsville for another night I decided to move hotels. Rydges was ok but no where near the standard I thought the chain was. Firstly for something positive - it's in a great location near really good restaurants - Bennys and also an Indian restaurant the... more

Hello, Thank you for your comments on your recent stay at Rydges Townsville. The airconditioning system has been replaced recently and we have been working through the issues of condensation in the rooms since the upgrade and have resolved most of these issues now. The hotel was origannly built in the mid eighties and upgraded in 2002. During 2009 we...

Grubby, tired ,second floor room with a view of a unclean patio table, still complete with rubbish the next day. Aircon system out of a sixties movie. Asked on three occasions at breakfast for vouchers by staff that were already collected, we felt like street kids! Had to ask for breakfast bowls, and juice glasses, other guests missed out on... more

We have stayed twice now in the two bedroom apartments that are run by Rydges in Townsville. The apartments are not in the hotel itself, but across the road at the back. They are very quiet, especially the ones at the front away from the neighbouring properties. No views but the location is still handy to all the Palmer Street... more

I stayed here for just 1 night. The location is good, not in the CBD but close by. There's a weird rule that you can't access your car or use the carpark between 10:30pm and 7am and I thought only Gov't Departments had crazy rules. Just make sure you're back by 10:30 pm or no undercover carpark! The room was... more

Thanks for your comments in regards to your recent stay at Rydges Townsville. We have commenced painting and have an upgrade plan due to commence. The rule in relation to the under cover carpark is for security purposes. It allows travelling reps to leave the bulk of their products / samples in their cars and to sleep easy with the...

The small and rundown lobby says "renovate me" but if you are child of the 1980's you will enjoy the rooms which are modeled to the movie Tequila Sunrise, all wooden venetitions. My room was large with an adjoining lounge, not sure how typical this was. We ate in the restaurant which was a bit of a mistake. The restaurant... more

Hi, Thanks for your comments. The hotel was renovated in 2002 with a tropical feel. The views stunning and the room where you stayed is a superior room. I am dissapointed that you did not enjoy your dining experience as we do pride ourselves on our food and beverage offering and have taken considerable time in positioning the restaurant as...

I stayed in your spa suite around valantines day,and was quiet dissapointed with what we paid for. You charge a really high price for a very outdated hotel room. It was a hot night and the air conditioner failed to work. when we reported this to the duty manager, he was quiet rude about it and said that the problem... more

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I can advise that yes the air-conditioning problems that we have previously had have been resolved. With a considerable investment in capital expenditure we have now replaced the air-conditioning system completely. The hotel is now looking forward to a long tropical North Queensland summer. I have stayed in Townsville and at this hotel many times over the last 12 months. The hotel rooms are dated and the decor is straight out of the 70's but the rooms I stayed in have always been spacious and clean. I have always found the staff to be helpful and courteous. If this hotel were located in a... more
