Good hotel all in all, location is ecellent and staff very friendly and efficient. Rooms are in good shape, clean with a comfi bed. The valet parking is affordable and a good choice as you won't really need your car here. Townsville itself is not too impressive. We stayed for 2 nghts in September as stopover on the way to... We stayed in townsville for just one night heading south to Airlie Beach. We chose the Holiday Inn which has a unique styled buildiung right in the townsville city center. The city wasnt that impressive but the hotel was nice: The rooms are in a good shape and are clean. The staff is friendly and gave a lot of tipps... More

Called 'The Sugar Shaker' by locals it's a fabulous location right in the centre of the city. Great service, was allocated an interconnecting room (which can be noisy) and asked to be shifted. The shift was no trouble for reception even though the hotel was heavily booked, they even gave us an upgrade to a higher floor. Rooms were nicely... More

The title applies to the hotel as well as Townsville itself. Despite having a seventies appearance from the outside the lobby and our room was modern and clean. The corridors on the other floors were a little worn though. There's no private parking but valet parking cost 12.50 a day which we were happy to pay. Our room was spacious... More

The Sugar Shaker is a landmark hotel in Townsville, centrally located and ticks all the boxes for a Holiday Inn. The staff are representive of the local culture - friendly and down to earth. The rooms have been recently refreshed and everything is clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had the usual offerings and more - it seemed a bit... More

More of a business hotel than for tourists I think, it was clean and functional, rooms were comfortable and a good size with nice toiletries. Good location for walking to restaurants and market. We booked room only and then discovered we would need to pay $19 extra each for breakfast when f for only a little bit more we could... More

This hotel was excellent - Perfect position to enjoy a weekend away with awesome dining and night life a short walk away! We had breakfast at the Hotel restaurant - price was ok but some of the food was a bit old... needed refreshing.

Whilst the exterior might look unprepossessing nowadays, the refurbished rooms are crisp, clean and contemporary, with some nice added touches such as a choice of soft or firm pillows. Staff in all areas are friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers a good buffet breakfast, and the dinner I ate there was well cooked and served. I appreciated the central location... More

The exterior is very eye catching as a relic from another era, but inside has been nicely refurbished. Very centrally located and easy to find. Rooms are of a good size and comes with all the usual Australian hotel gear. Compact rooftop pool also provides great views across Townsville. Restaurant was good and had some decent specials. Only downside is... More

Had a two nighter here with work, nice standard room on 18th floor, clean with a comfortable bed and quiet, just what you want from a holiday in. Did find the breakfast as an extra a bit off and that parking was extra, but guess thats how they make their money by charging for everything. Restaurant was good and nice... More
