This was my first trip to Townsville and Hotel Allen was recommended by family and is located in a relatively trendy area...that's where the charm ended! Initial customer service at check-in was terrific - shame she wasn't present for the rest of the stay. Dead cockroach behind the door of the room, main light didn't work, black stain around toilet... I stayed here for three nights in late January 2015, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The prices were very reasonable for two adults, and on weekends this even extends to include the smorgasbord hot breakfast offered in the lounge bar. These breakfasts alone retail at $14.95 per head, so nearly $30 worth of breakfast for two people is inclusive... More

I booked a single room for one night and my overall experience was positive. Even though the room I rented was small, desperately needed a lick of paint and a new sink (several large cracks spread across the porcelain in several places), the linen was clean and room were clean. An electric kettle, some coffee satchels (the ubiquitous Nescafe Blend... More

Good, reasonably clean, basic accommodation in a central location for a good price, rooms are a little dated but you sleep with your eyes closed and lights off. Good if you are just looking for a bed, shower and a meal and not to hang out in your room.

Impressed with the friendly staff who are eager to assist. It's no frills establishment but the rooms are clean and spacious. Location is spot on beside the strand with lots of restaurants, lovely beaches and plenty of active people using the amenities. I've stayed here about six times in the last two months with no problems. Room fee (single $55)... More

Reasonably cheap rooms, they're not flash or new but they're tidy enough. Set breakfast was included and pretty good too. Downstairs at the steakhouse they have great value food - do yourself a favour and get the ribs/wings on Wednesday night!

We called in for a meal and a couple of drinks. Staff really friendly and food good at a good price. Saw they had a motel but we were already staying somewhere else but handy to know for next time. Worth a go if passing through Townsville

We stayed one night. There were some locals outside who were very noisy into the early hours of the morning & again around 6am. They were asked to be quiet twice but it fell on deaf ears. These people were loitering in the garden area. This would make us think twice before we stay here again. We were unaware until... More
