I would describe The Criterion Hotel as the Breakfast Creek Hotel of Rockhampton with the added bonus of accomodation Great Central location, sensible room rates, ice cold beer, large variety of food including huge steaks

This is the oldest hotel in the area, and has all the authentic details. Ceilings are 4 meters high, rooms are huge. It was a great experience. We had a nice view on the river. Unfortunately, Rockhampton being the so called beef capital leaves one quite disappointed. The Cry is no worse than any other place I have attempted a good steak in Rocky. Yet to experience it, I find the cry reaonable for a country town stay over but certainly doesn't produce great food.

Went here for dinner with work colleagues while in Rockhampton on a Monday night. The toilets and other public areas needed cleaning (wasn't very busy so there is no reason why it couldn't be cleaned), service was average and the food okay.
