My wife and I were driving from Cairns to Brisbane in November 2014, and only stayed one night as a stopover. What a mistake! We were SO impressed and wished we had planned to stay longer. Everything about Athelstone was perfect - the décor (my wife's colours!) the gardens, the room, the breakfast, and Stan and Marion were perfect hosts... More

After reading the reviews we had an overnight stay at Athelstane House. What a beautiful home built in 1885 with clean and comfortable ensuited bedrooms and an elegant lounge and dining where you can choose to play games or read. When we arrived late afternoon we sat on the verandah in large comfortable wicker chairs and enjoyed the view, the... More

I stayed one night at Athelstane House and I was impressed. My room was spotlessly clean, extra large with polished timber floor and a large, comfortable bed. My bedroom opened on to the front verandah thus I kept the blinds drawn across the glass double doors for privacy but regretted missing out on natural light coming into my room at... More

Everything about Athelstane is quality, the beautiful and tasteful restoration of the house, the serene surroundings, the convenient location, the wonderful hosts, and a fantastic breakfast. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Wonderful weekend stay at Athelstane House. So welcoming and friendly and yet very discrete. We felt we were at home. So much better than a hotel and I loved the veranda chairs. Just right for a sundowner glass of wine. Close enough to walk to Allenstown pub for a great steak.

A great Friday night spent at Athelstane House in the deluxe suite. A comfortable bed, good amenities, friendly hosts and a range of breakfast options. My partner had "Marion's world famous scrambled eggs" and I had the fruit platter and burcher muesli. Both delicious. We will have to come back to try the sautéed mushrooms. Too many breakfast options. We... More

We only stayed for one night in The Athelstane House cause Rockhampton was just a stop-over during our "Aussie-Trip". What an extremly beautiful, tastefully decorated and furnished, super-friendly managed B&B, it was a place to relax, unwind and rest for a very happy evening. The rooms are very pretty furnished, everything is extremly clean and the owners really CARE for... More

Faultless bed and breakfast accommodation. Quite, relaxed, refined and unpretentious. Excellent and comfortable furnishings in the bed room and then common areas. Good breakfast food, served on the terrace outside our room. Handy for the Zoo, Botanical Gardens and Golf Course. Only drawback is the only decent food in walking distance is in a noisy pub which quite detracts from... More

The breakfast was healthy delicious and pretty to the eye, as is every aspect of this lovely old Queenslander. The hosts Stan and Marion care about their guests and make you feel very welcome in their beautiful home.
