We stayed here for a week. Our ground floor studio room was clean and the view overlooking the pool was peaceful, though the pool may become noisy with kids in the school holidays as the pool opens at 7:30 am. There is a kitchenette which was reasonably practical. The apartments are only a short walk form the beach and the... More

We stayed here April 20-27, 2012. At $95 AUS per night, it was a very competitive rate, certainly for Port Douglas. Our room was on the 2nd floor, over the pool. At that time of year, the place was fairly quiet and not full. I do recall a few nights when we could hear a few other guests yakking away... More

We've now stayed at the Port Douglas Retreat and had a great time. The hotel is within walking distance of the main commercial drag on Macrossan and also of Four Mile Beach. Very convenient but also very quiet. Our room came with a kitchenette, which is perfect for us as we like to have breakfast and sometimes dinner in --... More

Port Douglas retreat was a great place to stay. We were in room 2 which was right on the corner of the street and we did get woken at pub closing time every night about 3 am. The amenities were great, we mixed self catering and meals out. The BBQ was clean and nicely situated by the pool. The laundry... More

Port Douglas Retreat is ideally positioned within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, marina etc. This is important, as many hotels are situated well away from these amenities. Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Nice pool.

My husband and I have just had an amazing stay at the Port Douglas Retreat. Gorgeous pool, lovely rooms but best of all the location. So close to the beach, the marina and all the shops and restaurants. Fantastic value for money!! highly recommended!! We will be back.

I choose Port Douglas for it's close location to the beach. It is in a prime location from where not only the beach but also other corners were reachable within short time. Anyway, my room was decent. I was lucky that I could manage the room phased to the pool. The reflection of the sun light on the pool's water... More

PDR is in a great location one street back from main street (Macrossan). Rooms are adequate, beds good, no views but comfortable. Staff helpful. Good value.

I stayed in Port Douglas Retreat on the first floor (No. 29) for 4 nights. It is well located in a quiet area at reasonable prices for Four Mile Beach, Marossman Main Street, a good assortment of excellent restaurants, a supermarket and shops. It is very near the Ferry Terminal, which has excellent and more reasonable shops for souvenirs, for... More
