We stayed at the Retreat during November 2012, the week of the Eclipse to be exact. Even during this period of high demand, i felt the cost to be reasonable. The rooms were well equipped, good size flat-screen tv and fridge freezer, hob, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, pots & pans, kettle, microwave, cafetiere, glasses, iron, etc, even washing liquid and... We were absolutely delighted with this gem of a place so close to the main street of Port Douglas but still quiet even when sitting out on our pretty balcony overlooking the pool. Our apartment, and most importantly, bed, was very comfortable and our air con worked perfectly. We also had an overhead fan and fly screen so a good... More

We have stayed in many places over 20 years of holidaying in port and found this gem to be one of the best. This review is based solely on the price. Yes of course there are better and more luxurious places in port to stay but we found the retreat to be excellent value. The kitchenette great for breakfast and... More

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of December. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a great pool to cool down in at the end of a busy day. The location is perfect and a short walk to the beach and the shops in Port Douglas. We were undecided about hiring a car. In the end... More

This place was a great find!! Cheap but very ninice. Great location, only 5 mins from beach one way and 5 mins to shops the other. The rooms were clean and very nice and each have a balcony. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is amazing!! Clear water and very private. The only bad point I would... More

First of all, the hotel staff is very welcoming and friendly. They will help you get around town and book any tours you may need. The room was clean, spacious, and had a kitchenette. The best part of the hotel was its convenient location to all the restaurants and shops in Port Douglas. Just a block or two away from... More

I had to write a review - this place was simply great. Me and my husband were very impressed and really enjoyed our stay. We wanted a reasonably priced place, not too near the main drag and peaceful. This ticked all those boxes. The room was comfortable and large enough for two. Very clean and felt like a home from... More

Perfect location only a few minutes walk from the main street and marina. room are clean and well air-conditioned. The small kitchen is adequate especially as there is a bbq and kitchen located at the pool. Much of our time was spent out there. The small number of rooms made it easy to make friends with the other people staying... More

A great place to stay in Port Douglas! The best thing about the retreat is the location. You are literally a couple minutes walk into the town centre or the beach. A more energetic 8 minute walk will see you to the mariner. For the price it was pretty decent value. The owners were very welcoming and gave fantastic advice... More

This is a lovely family run apartment hotel. As part of our Australia tour we stayed here the longest as the relaxing beach holiday section. The room we had was pool view on 1st floor, good studio size room with comfortable beds, small sofa to watch tv, decent size balcony for dining on, large bathroom that is just a corner... More
