I stayed there for seven nights and I am positively surprised. The self contain apartment/studio was very tidy, clean and absolutely comfortable. The location is perfect within five minutes walking distance to the four miles beach, restaurants, shops, lookouts and marina. Joyce and David were very friendly and helpful Thanks for a very nice and comfortable stay. I am looking forward... More

I would not recommend Port Douglas Retreat for the following reasons. My wife and I booked this accommodation from New Zealand Although the room was clean and the bed comfortable. It was a little tired but close to the main attractions. I was required to pay a third of the accom cost on booking (I booked by phone). I was... More

"Port Douglas Retreat" is not a hotel as some site call it...It's a Holiday Apartments - self-serviced studio accommodation with bed-bath and kitchenette in one. You don't need bothering about turning the door sign telling the housekeeper to make your room up.......There Isn't One! Bring your own towels, shampoo, washing up liquid..etc. (Supermaket+shops only 5 mins away).......Washing machine provided for... More

We stayed here for 7 nights mid April 2015. Although we arrive early hours of the morning, Jenny had arranged our keys so we could access our rooms. The apartments were clean, tidy and totally comfortable, they are within easy walking distance to all local shops and the marina. Jenny was more than helpful with recommendations and booking our day... More

Aly and I stayed at the Port Douglas Retreat for 3 nights last month, perfect location, very central for all amenities. The accommodation was faultless... we must say that it was the BEST self catering unit we have ever had on our travels.

We stayed at the Port Douglas Retreat to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had stayed here 12 years ago and knew it was our sort of place. Not too crowded, not too noisy, close to all amenities, great pool and a kitchenette thrown in, which meant we could eat in for breakfast and lunch. We had requested a downstairs pool... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2015

We stayed for 13 nights in March 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We requested a pool view room (based on others reviews) and were not disappointed. The room was on the 1st floor, and although steps to go up to this level it didn't bother us but others may prefer ground floor. The rooms are studio apartments with a... More

We love this place. It has studio only accommodation, so attracts mostly couples and singles, and has no hordes of kids in the pool like most places. It is minutes from Macrossan St, the beach, The Marina and all the other facilities of the (small) town. The managers, David & Joyce, are friendly without being intrusive, and always make us... I stayed here for 7 nights and overall enjoyed my time there. The facilities are good, laundry room kitchenettes in each room (although the work space could be a bit bigger in some) and outside barbecue area with seating. The proprietors are welcoming and helpful. The pool is amazing - a real oasis. I made a mistake with my room... More

My 14 year old daughter and I stayed her in January '15. The resort I would say caters more to adults than it does to younger children and there are not many children around. The grounds are not large but they have a lot of units there and a lot have a pool view. We were on the ground floor... More
