My wife and I travelled in Australia for five weeks and the Mai Tai Resort was the most unique and enchanting place we stayed. The location is fairly close to the Captain Cook Highway but a few miles inland on a very steep hill. The entire resort is designed in a Balinese style with beautiful sculptures and artwork. See attached... more

We stayed at the Tai Mai for five nights in June/09. We put ourselves in their hands as far as tours - one to the Raintree forest and one to the barrier reef - and suggestions for other things to do. We were not going to hire a car but the owners suggested we do - that the driving -... more

I have used Tripadvisor on many occasions and found it to be very helpful when choosing hotels around the world. This is the first time that I’ve actually made a contribution, but I feel obligated since reading a recent review headed “A dirty joke never ever even 3 star”. We happened to be staying at Mai Tai. We were aware... more

Port Douglas was the first stop on our honeymoon, and the Mai Tai was a wonderful place to stay. Andre was our host while we were there, and he went out of his way to accomodate us. He welcomed us to the Mai Tai very late at night after delayed flights, served us a delicious breakfast everyday on the patio... more

Mai Tai was truly the highlight of our holidays. We have travelled extensively all over Australia and this was definitely the highlight. This incredible rainforest setting is simply amazing and unlike anything we have stayed at before and the scenery is absolutely fantastic. The whole setting is quite unique and simply a must for those looking for an alternative. The... more

There are so many glowing reviews of Mai Tai that it's hard to think of anything original to say, so let me just say believe it all -- no one is exaggerating. It is the epitome of a "hidden gem," and one should feel lucky to come across it and privileged to stay there. Mai Tai is only a 10-minute... more

As the title suggests, we are so very happy with our recent stay at Mai-Tai. Even after our trip the highlight was our stay at Mai-Tai. It wasn’t just the splendid mountain side location, nor was it the so very plush rooms; our stay was made sensational by our hosts, Anthony and Andre. These guys made us feel like royalty!... more

Better than we could have imagined. We just returned from Mai Tai and our only regret was having to leave. We slowly took the drive up the mountain to Mai Tai and our hearts were already pumping with excitement. We arrived at the top to be greeted with the most amazing views - beautiful clear blue skies, green sloping mountains... more

The Mai Tai Resort is truly a hidden gem. It was one of the highlights of our Australian vacation. If I return to dive the Great Barrier Reef, I would return to Port Douglas and to the Mai Tai Resort. In contrary to the review sent by the other group who claimed it's not a 3 star hotel and claimed... more

I was in desperate need of a holiday with both time for rest and adventure. The peaceful atmosphere of Mai Tai ensured the former, and the assistance of the very friendly hosts, Anthony and Andre helped arrange tours etc to gain the most from my time in Far North Queensland. The view from the veranda at breakfast is glorious and... more
