If you book here, you will be charged $100 to change the dates or cancel your booking, no matter how early you try to do this. We had personal reasons to cancel one month before arrival and although I wanted to re-book, I was not prepared to pay $100 for the privilege.

Perhaps I expected too much so disappointment was inevitable, but, it really wasn't as special as it purports to be. Location is good as easy access to beach and town and parking outside was never a problem. Be aware, the beach view is across a road and through trees - you are not exactly beach side. We had asked for... More

The Peninsula Boutique Hotel wasn't our first choice for our recent short break to Port Douglas due to unavailability at time of booking of our preferred accommodation, but was a close second based on being a smaller establishment close to the restaurants of Macrossan St., that there was a living area for a bit more space (not that we intended... Dear Sydney_AustraliaDee, Thank you for an observant and thorough review of the Hotel - we sincerely appreciate all feedback and you have certainly given some detailed thoughts and observations we, as a team, can really analyse and see where we can improve. We avoid the term "luxury" as this conjures up images of gold trims, marble and the conventional branded... More

Our suite was exceptionally spacious and lovely decorated in soothing aqua and and beach tones with a private balcony. The bathroom had a separate whirlpool tub complete with aromatherapy candle. The fresh orchid arrangements and local artwork throughout the hotel were really nice touches. There were plenty of hot and cold options for breakfast although it was exactly the same... More

Nice smallish Boutique Hotel right on the beach and at the eastern end of Macrossan Street. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Easy parking and short walk to cafes, restaurants shops and pubs. Hotel needs a little maintenance but is really very pleasant and away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

Dear Laurie E, Thank you for a lovely review and yes, we do feel spoilt being at the quiet end of Port Douglas' main street where all you can hear at night is the sound of the waves on the sand. What an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. The staff are wonderful; the room was amazing but above all the design of the pool was absolutely awesome. I loved lazing by the pool and in the water and enjoying the water fall on my shoulders... Will definitely go again :)

Dear Ruby U, We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed the multilayered, heated & cooled pools, spa and Jacuzzi. The architects were a very creative lot by topping it off with an amazing infinity waterfall (with built in underwater lounges so it was fall on top of you!). Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you... More

The food at the restaurant was excellent and well priced. Special requests, attraction bookings, restaurant suggestions were executed flawlessly. My partner and I have returned to the PBH for our 5th visit based on closeness to 4 Mile beach and downtown Port Douglas, quality of the accommodation, service, quality of the food at "hi tide" cafe-bar-restaurant and the friendliness of the owner/operators and staff. What more do you need?
