Really chilled backpackers about 10 mins walk from town, or 4 min bike ride. You can hire bikes for $2 per hour from reception which include locks. I had a double room with TV + bar fridge, air con, towels, soap etc which is everything you need. Very clean and comfortable and most importantly very affordable. The bar area is... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here in May and on a whole we enjoyed it. Our room was great, towels, TV, a fridge and aircon in our room for the price was great. It's also good that there is an onsite cheap bar. The kitchen was a little dirty and although the ladies bathrooms were clean my boyfriend did say... More

Our room was excellent. Had a double, private room. Amazed to see it included a TV, a bar fridge and towels! Very generous for the cost of the room. Air conditioning was sufficient. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Amenities were disgusting! All in all, this is an excellent hostel that I would recommend to friends and family.

At onset, price-wise Dougies is one of the cheaper end backpackers in Port Douglas. I arrived mid-evening and was able to get a double room, (no Ensuite). I needed space to myself as I'd been travelling for 48 hours with no sleep. All staff I'd had dealings with were very friendly and accommodating. My needs were dealt with promptly. The... More

I spent 3 weeks here and it was the most amazing 3 weeks of my life. Made me wish I had traveled years ago. I was over to visit my sister and was made to feel the most welcomed and involved person. The staff are all lovely. Although things can get a bit grubby in the kitchen and bathrooms these... More

Nice place near the sea, best place for friendly backpackers. Cleaning staff are the rudest I've ever met. Was swear at for waiting for the toilets to be cleaned. Was aggressive toward me for no reason. Stay well clear of this place, I don't feel safe. Can't believe how discussing this pace is in the mornings.

A nice place for backpackers to stay. The rooms were decent, only a few beds per room, and nothing else. The camp kitchen is abit unkept and messy, the same can be said about the toilets which are pretty dirty. The restaurant doesn't have many food options, and because there are no other shops its abit hard to get something... More

Great place to stay in Port D, the hostel arranges pickup from Cairns for free, the reception are ridiculously friendly and will help you out with almost anything. The rooms are great, lots of space and you get a cupboard to yourself. There is a pool, bar and a camping ground. Really nice atmosphere here and feels like more of... More

I tend to liken this hostel to the setting of the movie 'The Beach' It's a quirky, wild bit of paradise with a laid back mentality. With a swimming pool, plenty of hammocks and the beach across the road it's the perfect place to relax in the day and party at night. There are a few long termer's here (not... More

Be careful - once you get there you'll have a hard time leaving! You instantly feel the good vibes as you step into this little paradise so full of love! It's like one big family there and you can't but fall in love with all of it - the people (including the staff) the surroundings and the incredible spirit of... More
