Really friendly staff, good rooms, plenty of outdoor areas for lounging, good kitchen, great bar, cheap & cold beer. What more could a group ask for? Out host Mick went out of his way to make us feel relaxed and welcome. In fact, everyone staying there was relaxed and welcoming too.

I did not feel comfortable here at all. The room was filthy. The floor was covered in all sorts of liquid stains and was sticky. The bed was equally as gross, with more stains and holes in the pillows. I did not know where to put my stuff! The manager did not like it when I asked him for a... More

We recently stayed at the Parrotfish with a large group, and the owner Mick was extremely friendly and accommodating. The rest of the staff were always very warm and welcoming, and overall the accommodation, services and facilities were great value.

My sister and I stayed at parrotfish while traveling through port douglas and had a great time! They were incredibly hospitable; free bike rental, free wifi, the bar always served happy hour prices, free breakfast and Todd and Mike went above and beyond in helping us book tours in the area. Plus each tour we booked = a free night... More

I had a private room with bathroom for 1 night stay on my way back from a tour up to Cape Tribulation and the rainforest, got a good deal booking it within the Cape Trib tour. Everything else in town was either booked up or way too expensive - Port Douglas is not a cheap place, but it's well-worth the... More

Only a few things can be said about your review.... Some people do think Port Douglas is more expensive than other destinations but that is where our great value budget prices help travelers out. I agree with your comment about the bread at breakfast time and we now source our bread from the local baker each day and it is... More

Me and two friend turned up to the dirtiest hostel you could think of! We went into the first room to a smell that would Knock a dead dog sick, As we left the room the door lock broke and we were unable to access the room, we went to reception to complain and the gormless man behind the desk... it is our biggest challenge to keep our hostel a safe and happy environment from troublesome travelers. we try very hard to make sure aggressive and drunken people do not checkin and sometime when they do, we have to ask them to leave. it is a pity some people are so angry at being asked to leave that they are... We stayed for four nights at the parrotfish and had a fantastic time. The accommodation was clean and to a good standard for a hostel. Mick gave us a whole bunch of advice when we checked in about things to do, weather conditions / best time to go onto the reef - he also helped me find a good company... More

Bed bug tuesdays? Floor cleaning Mondays... Both of which weren't noticeably valid... Location is good, but I'd point you elsewhere for a more comfortable nights sleep. Seems you can get cheaper accomodation on wotif.com these days? Better than a hostel and cheaper.

sorry to hear you're upset about our signs for bedbugs. we try very hard to keep this particular problem at bay. i never had anyone upset about our policy but more importantly, i'm happy no-one can complain about actual bedbugs! More

I loved Parrotfish. Stayed for 2 nights. They gave me 2 free nights when I booked my excursions with them. The staff was so helpful. Tod was especially kind and helpful; definitely the best hostel worker I've ever met. The hostel is only a block from the main street. There is free wifi and a nice swimming pool which was... More

We spent 2 nights there on a rainy week-end... had a great time though, nice staff, local beers, table tennis and sofas to read various books left there by travellers. Really enjoyed it! Port Douglas being quite a posh little town, was nice to chill there.
