I stayed at the Parrotfish Lodge for three nights, about two years ago, and had a great time doing it. I chose to stay at the Parrotfish Lodge because it was the cheapest place to stay in Port Douglas, but realized when I got there that it was probably the most fun place to stay too. Being a poor collage... More

Stayed here for a week whilst I found my feet in Port Douglas. Place is a hub for backpackers and a great place to meet loads of people from around the world. Rooms are basic dorm style with a few private rooms on offer. Place is not so clean but hey it is a hostel really in essence. Has a... More

We had this hostel recommend and booked by someone else. The first time we didn't check it our self. It was absolute crap. Never ever would I recommend someone going there! It was dirty. Run down. Unfriendly Staff. And the worst we had GIANT cockroaches in our room!

Myself and a friend stayed in Parrotfish last week after reading a recommendation in Lonely planet. When we arrived there was no one on reception and it was locked up. We waited and someone did show up after 15 mins approx. We decided to stay in the 8 bed dorm which had no A/C which we were informed of when... More

We made a last minute booking on Hostelworld.com which stated on the booking form that we could arrive at 10pm. My partner and I turned up slightly before 10pm to find the reception in complete darkness. We lifted the phone to the left of reception (as the instructions state) in the hope that someone would come and check us in,... More

The location of the hostel is the only positive thing about it. The hostel is very dirty, I didn't see one cleaner while I was there. The pool was unfit to swim in, it had a layer of brown scum floating on the top. They advertised free breakfast, towels and bikes all of which they don't have. The rooms are... More

Stayed at the parrotfish for three nights in a six bed dorm. I have to use the word stay and not slept as sadly the amount of sleep I got was limited. The hostel is very noisy.. We were in a room right near where people seemed to congregate after they had been out. On our first night we were... More

The place is managed by 2 lazy people, that is to say?! there is no service at all... The bikes are broken, the aircon in tv room is broken, the pool is brown, the cleaning is done when people complain, the shower pressure is nothing, the bar is filthy, the people aren't even nice ;-((( it is a shame because... This lodge is centrally located and has very friendly staff they serve a bowl of great fruit for breakfast it is a backpackers lodge so reasonably priced BUT our upstairs private room was basic and reasonably clean and the water pressure was variable according to how many showers are going, sometimes just a dribble. There was young persons noise but... More

Myself and 2 friends stayed at Parrotfish as it was the only hostel in Port Douglas with availabity for us all to stay in the same room. As soon as we arrived, we realised why this was the case. The place looks like it's falling apart. The walls are crumbling, there's rubbish everywhere, the so called TV room looks like... More
