Nothing wrong with the hostel just was full of people working in port Douglas so they were all a bit clique and not that friendly and we felt a bit like we were intruding in their rooms. We only stayed one night whilst visiting port Douglas. Kitchen, common areas and bathrooms all really nice and clean. Would recommend it

My husband and I were really sorry we stayed here. Our private room was next to the kitchen living room area and therefore VERY noisy. The bathroom was dirty, hair in the sink, and there was no soap not even over the sink. They only provided a sheet and no blanket or quilt. Further no eating, food etc. was allowed... More

We booked this because it was listed high in Lonely Planet. Kind of a disappointment. Later found cheaper, nicer options in Port Douglas. We have a clean room with nice ensuite bathroom. However, the shared kitchen is pretty gross. Pots, pans, cutlery, dishes must be rented. Fridges reek of rotting milk. Noise from the lounge area is loud at 11... More

I stayed at global's in November 2013. It's the beginning when everyone leaves port Douglas and it gets very quiet around here. With means on the other hand that the Hostel prices drop ($17 a night ) and job opportunities come up. A lot. Working for accommodation and an extra job next to it are very possible here. Nice clientele... More

It's the sort of place that will do. If your not wanting much then you'll be fine. It's cheap. It's kinda clean. The beds are ok. But the pub downstairs a is great. They have hospitality night in Tuesdays in port Douglas that's worth a go. Great reef trips too

My friends & I traveled to Port Douglas for a 30th birthday. All we wanted was somewhere to sleep whilst we hit the beach and the pubs, as well as explore the Daintree Rainforest. At Global Backpackers we got exactly what we wanted. The facilities were great and location was excellent. I recommend!

We stayed in the hostel for one night. It was okay, the rooms were clean, the kitchen was clean and the bathroom was okay as well. We got a discount for pizza in their restaurant/bar, which was really yammi. Most of the time the staff was not available, which makes it a rather bad service. Also I think it is... More

The backpacker itself is quite nice. Rooms are fine, bathrooms are OK (though they could be cleaner), kitchen is decent. The management is atrocious however. Currently the manager is actually a backpacker who has no idea what he's doing. If you book online, cross your fingers that they will actually get what you booked. The people we met there were... This place is the cleanest backpackers I have ever stayed in. As it was Christmas Day I had a room to myself. The bed was very comfy and the air conditioner kept the room nice and cool. The bathrooms & showers look new and were spotless. The only bad thing that I encountered was a group of males being loud... More

To find any staff you have to go via the Rattle and Hum Bar, next door, most staff are really friendly and helpful though. Originally a 10 bed dorm and moved to a 4 bed dorm, just because the amount of long term people staying there, who seem to think they own the rooms and kitchen, put there things everywhere.... More
