Found Mid City when we realized the hostels in Cairns weren't what we needed. Our little apartment was secure, quiet, even luxurious. But the staff is what really made Mid City worth the few extra dollars and we ended up staying nearly three weeks. Little things added up - beach towels when we hadn't even asked for them, directions and suggestions, friendliness no matter what time of day, things like that. What a nice change from some of the indifferent or even rude attitudes we've experienced in Queensland!!! So stay here, don't bother with hostels, they're not much cheaper anyway and you'll have laundry, nice pool, good sleep and great hosts on top of it. more
