The hi-light of The Hotel Cairns is the very friendly and extremely helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble and we found they always had time for a chat. Our room was a good size and comfortable. We had a king size bed, 5 lovely pillows, and when we needed an extra blanket it was no trouble at all... More

It would be hard to find such a well located hotel with such reasonable prices. The plantation rooms are excellent, newly refurbished , very comfortable beds and we loved the tropical feel of the property. The White shutters and palms were pretty however all the ppl SMOKING outside the rooms made it unpleasant every time you walked along the balcony... More

I stayed at The Hotel Cairns (THC) at the start and end of the five day live aboard dive boat on the outer reef and it certainly met my needs. The room had echoes of the 1970s but had undergone some kind of revamp. Room lighting was rather dim but the internet was reasonable, the bed was comfy, the bathroom... More

Stayed here for 5 nts picked it for location and relaxability. Really the cleanliness and lack of a amenities let it down badly. The staff were the best thing - my request to have my room properly cleaned were met with good spirit, they were very friendly. It wasn't as relaxing as it could have been because the staff seemed... This hotel is one block from the Esplanade. They have free parking and free Wi-Fi. The room is spacious enough and clean. Most of the staff was good, the others a bit stand-offish, but nowhere near the point of rudeness. One complaint-the floors outside the rooms are tile so when the housekeepers roll their carts, it is noisy. No problem... More

The staff was helpful and friendly. We had a standard room with a king bed. The room was large. It contained a love seat coffee table, 2 chairs, a desk and TV stand beside the bed. The bed comfortable. We enjoyed the balcony with wicker chairs and table. The room was clean. The internet was fast.

My understanding is that this place has just changed hands which would explain the injection of capital it seems to be getting. When I was there the exterior was freshly painted and the roof was being seriously made over. The exterior ambiance is relaxed tropical and graceful.. The well established Lipstick palms which I am told are slow growing seriously... More

I booked this place through an offer from Jetstar. Clean, good breakfast, bed was ok. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the location was hard to beat. One block from the Esplanade. .Somewhere I read the rooms had been upgraded....mine had missed out badly. Still with the dark original 60's wood. I am visually impaired and needed to... More

Stayed 3 separate nights in July in 3 different 'tower' rooms. We liked the old style tropical feel of this place. All of our rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, though the none of the aircons were effective - we slept with the french windows open and the ceilng fans on. Great location close to the Esplanade. Weird experience booking... More
