This was our last stop on our journey of the east coast and it topped our travelling off! The rooms were big, the people we shared with were all friendly, and the staff were helpful. we stayed here when a cyclone hit Cairns so we were advised to stay indoors for 48 hours, but it was great, everyone came and... I stayed a weekend in Gilligan's with 7 friends, which was perfect because we stayed in one room for all 8 of us. It was pretty typical hostile fare, with 4 bunk beds close together, one toilet, and one shower. The hostile itself was fine, it was clean and had a back porch so it didn't feel too claustrophobic. The... More

Competent, yet grumpy staff "welcomed" us to a hostel which promotes itself as a large bar with rooms on the top. The rooms were surprisingly quiet and clean. Ensure shower/toilet which worked fine, despite sharing amongst 8 people. Not enough plug space, so maybe bring an extension lead. Everything you might want in a basic hostel, on a cheapish budget.... More

My overall experience at this hostel was horrific. I did not feel comfortable staying here. The people who work behind reception are the most unwelcoming and unhelpful people I've ever come across. My friend had her bank card delivered there and they threw it away!! Not only this but they call themselves a "party hostel" and you are not allowed... More

Don't stay here if you are anti social, don't like drinking or music, need alone time or just want to stay in your room all day. This is a party hostel and a good one! Not the cleanest, definitely not the best showers, even some of the reception staff were rude and too cool to help out. But perfect location,... More

If you are looking for a fun place to stay then look nowhere else. Gilligans has everything all under the one roof, casino, nightclub, swimming pool/artificial beach, travel shop. I really didn't want to leave this place. Really easy to meet people.Dorms are clean, spacious and have large balconies, common areas are large also. I would also highly recommend the Ultimate Party... More

Stayed in is many places up the coast, most of them more expensive than Gilligan's, I.e. Nomads etc and none of them come close to this place. Yeah you pay a little more than other places in Cairns but you get what you pay for, massive clean rooms, free meals, cheap drinks and the friendliest staff I have encountered anywhere... More

Overpriced but clean and good atmosphere. I'm not sure if I'd stay here again. Positives : clean, nice balcony and good for socialising. Negatives : cold shower, rude staff at times (especially housekeeping), expensive for what it is
